You can play semantics all you want and even cite antiquated dictionary definitions. Z-order is a matter of the coders preference and does not directly categorize what a program is or does... And for the record, Stardock makes programs which have Z-orders that can be changed like Desktop Aquarium which is often marketed as a screensaver. Arguing this point is almost moot because people here are way too protective and defensive about someone pointing out the obvious...o

Dreamscenes ARE video screensavers playing in desktop space... LOL Anyone claiming otherwise is just trying to hype this up. And there have been tv tuning software to do this LONG before vista and even 1 other application which could do this despite taking up large resources... I really wish people would just admit they like the new use of the technology instead of claiming they invented something new... Jesus Christ people stop lying to yourself and

These results aren't surprising... The Bell Curve shows its ugly head in almost all aspects of human life; especially when dealing with human behavior... Minor variations are often accounted for when you multiply out the results. SPSS for life!

@ All you guys who think my statement about art is a joke...you're half educated and even less than half intelligent. If you added up all the artwork created in the world and put it into 2 categories: PAID vs FREE Free would win because ultimately only the highest quality or most rare art sells for a price. Too bad you guys cannot separate the trees from the forest and pick the most rare art in the world to use as your counter to my argument. Sucks to ha

Stardock Design's free to non-free ratio so far is 6 to 1 - kudos. But free content shouldn't be held over people's heads to encourage them to buy premium content...one's apples...one's oranges. Not to mention premium content SHOULD be just that...a step above anything given away free. I don't think animated wallpaper is going to be the next "big thing" by any means. Finally someone @ StarDock has admitted they haven't recreated the wheel or made miracles happen.

Look all I'm asking for in this world is better software the is fun and maybe even some that helps productivity...stardock clearly has created numerous examples of both. This just isn't good for productivity (yet) or very much fun. It's also highly impractical when frogboy says stardocks goal was to reach the average user because vista ultimate is NOT for the average user nor are the system requirements to run it, thus making his statement in a previous introductory article point out the glari

Cough...fraps...cough...cough... 1) after 10 minutes this idea put into practice gets annoying 2) its really a useless feature until they integrate some form of knowledge into the background desktop (i.e. stock market ticker, sports scores etc) 3) it will put useless wear on your hardware 8% system resources or 80% 4) stardock "created" desktopx widgets for the things mentioned in my point #2 5) will for once in its career, this company admit 2 thing

Your arguments are weak mindlesspuppet. You start off by mildly trying to flame me which shows the counterpoints will be weak at best and you continue to reiterate the main points of the original article. The facts are the facts...and if you don't know it MSN is MS and they have one of the MOST USED EVER IMs: MSN Messenger aka Windows Messenger Live. But good try to discredit that program and then quickly move to another terribly constru

Dude, 3rd party companies OCASSIONALLY make a good app but most are trash and run terribly. Then the author says its the end user's pc or limitation in microsoft's os that is the problem and not their software... You say if MS built in too much cust. it would weaken the brand...but how does a 3rd party software company make it stronger? I hate to say this but your article is deafening...it's like the proverbial king kon

There's no doubt stardock has some good software but can you guys stop saying stuff like this: We had this feature in before Windows Vista added it. Mouse over previews of what's in the taskbar. It's seriously annoying and I'm 99% sure your company hasn't created anything terribly new...just innovated something that's already been done before.

It would be nice if these were a bit more professionally done... Or minimally the person doing the vocal navigation of such short videos were to be MORE ARTICULATE and sound less intoxicated...slurring of one's speech takes away the focus of what is being said about such a great product. And you never know who is viewing these...food for thought!

Just a quick note... After installing SP2 Build 2180... The built in IE popup blocker works amazing! Almost like they described NEVERTRUST would! Blocking ACTIVE X installation requests is almost as if they dont exist at all!!!

Yeah...someone has a different outlook or opinion and gets flamed... I expected this...the world has a funny way of evening things out. I'm done here.

SO you're saying ALL THOSE OTHER STAR WARS bootskins came with prior consent or release from LUCASARTS? You don't have to prove anything to me but I WOULD LOVE to see this... Because they rarely release anything to anyone...without $$$. These legalities sometimes are the shield people use to screen the art they personally like... It matters little to me anymore I just wanted clarification. Seems like some people get preferential treatment that is all...<br

I am totally shocked at the "copyright" policy this site claims to adhere so closely to concerning any and all submissions... I mean policy is policy and I totally understand the legal ramifications of international trademark and copyright infringement. I guess what I am shocked about is how about 5-6 of my bootskins were rejected over 2-3 months ago due to this policy. Now I see almost daily, exceptions being made to such a rule. I am kinda curious how these
