Being acquired by Yahoo! is huge, don't doubt that. While DesktopX is very cool and powerful, it is not cross platform. That is a major drawback for someone like Yahoo or Google since they serve the masses and not just one platform. As do many other hosted model type businesses. They want cross-platform support.
