One time, I was at a store before it opened, a crowd of people had gathered at the locked door waiting for it to open. A man maneuvered through the crowd, excusing himself as he went. When he got to the front of the pack, he grabbed the door only to discover it was locked. He looked at the door in disbelief, as if he was so convinced the door would be open. Why did he think we were all just standing there? When I see certain posts on this site, I am reminded of this. It see

I agree with Essencay, John Kerry's major flaw is no one seems to know what he stands for. "I'm not Bush" is not enough for me, for many it will be, but not for me. I need some substance, without something he could be worse than Bush. I want to make an informed decision, and right now it would be Bush because Kerry has not given me enough yet. John Kerry is not stupid enough to walk into the presidency with no plan, so why is he not talking about it?

IE. If it ain't broke, don't mess with it is my philosphy (especially with computers). I cannot tell you how many times in the past I installed something, later to find the destructive power it possessed, or I possessed...that is another story.

Very will written Anthony R. By what I read, are you from europe? If you are, from what I have read on the web your view is not the popular one. It was a pleasure to read it though, and I agree with it. I wish more people thought things through like this, Europeans and Americans. Few people take the time to think things through.

I don't think it is religion at all. It is power. They use the religion to control them. It has been used that way for centuries, take a religion and twist its ideals to control the populace. The more igrnorant the people the more willing they are to follow that wacked out religion.

Sir MiNDTRiPP I would say either reinstall your download manager or install a different one. In SP2 the new IE is a little more aware, or at least to the user, about downloads. I use ReGet and it works great. You may search google for someone that has had that problem, and maybe a fix. I had done that on the first release of SP2 for a couple issues and that resolved them. So far I have had no issues with this release.

I too was not interested in the firewall features (though you should run a software firewall on top of the router in my opinion, which I do), but the biggest advantage is all the other updates in one package. And they have changed some things about memory execution that cannot be fixed with a normal patch through a download. This alone plugs many holes in the opearting system. It is all around an attempt to make windows a lot more secure, with the added feature of firewall. Probably because

Short messages are great, but when they lack essential information they are not so great. Simply the word "Error" does not help a lot, especially with Windows where the error could appear to be the software, but actually reside somewhere else. [Message Edited]

SP2 Users. RC2 v2149 has been out for a few days, got to installing it and the toolbar icons are now working. This appears to be an excellent build, no problems as of yet. I was very pleased to see the toolbar icons working though.

I can't imagine a skin causing that much trouble. You said it happened on your old machine, did you transfer any data or install some of the old software? Maybe that is the culprit. You also did not sound so sure the virus is gone, did you get rid of through the proper channels (ie. the fixes and patches from your virus software manufacturer or Microsoft)?

Everyone is so right. He was and will always be remembered as a great man. He really did care about the US and its people, something that is hard to find in today's politicians. Though I really had no dispute with anything he did, I know others did, but you cannot please everyone. I feel even the people that may have disagreed with him in the past will miss him. He was a great man.

I believe it only happens with certain skins. I cannot recall which ones, but I have noticed this also. I would not say they are unreadable, but darn close. I am not an expert at building skins, but my assumption is there is a setting in a skin that can effect the output of clear type. My suggestion is try another skin, that worked for me.

I am using one of the Rokey icon packages, and desktopX, and I have the same issue. Generally I have the desktop icons hidden so it is not an issue (This is happening in DesktopX 2.1 not beta). Other Icon Packages seem to work fine.

I have noticed some issues occassionally with WindowsFX, both beta and the 2.12 version. But for me it is occasional, and kind of random. I'd say 90% of the time that I am running the transitions (which is most of the time), I have no issues. As far as Dreamweaver, I have had no particullar issues except from windowblinds, not windowfx. Certain subwindows, such as the new site wizard do not appear correctly unless I shut down WindowBlinds. Of course, maybe...which I just tested, and apparen

I had unusual effects with transitions also, occasionally, but even in the non-beta version. I turn it off occassionally, especially when I am doing something serious and I do not appreciate the extra time or cpu usage for a cool effect. I am running it on XP, and I feel the beta is at least as stable as the regualar version.
