Heh, some example of someone playing the metaverse scoring system: Take no 2 player named 'unfunf'. He played 3 games (Yes, only 3!) for a total score of 428361. His first game is played with 1.2 on a Gigantic map at suicidal. Took him 3 years to finish the game! 3 years? How is that possible to even get the speed tek that permits you to get to the other side of a gigantic map? His 2nd game is even better! 2 years on a Gigantic map at suicidal. This sh

Man! The stardock server are already struggling just with the submission of games and you want everyone to save our games on it too? It recalculate our metaverse score every 5-6 games! Why not everygame? Are the servers so hardware limited that they cannot do this? Seems like they need a database master over there because i don't understand how slow they are even with all the people active in the metaverse. We are not uploading scores every minute at 500 000 scores by minute, so how c

You can also make a ship of one fleet when you send it to a checkpoint that assemble the ships automatically into a fleet. I've seen that plenty of times in my game with 115 planets. Man it's long trying to fill them all up to max population.

moo2: Wax a 100 fleet with 50 titans? Pfffff! I could destroy a 300 fleet with 2 Doomstar that had only ion canon on it. With time repeater and 200+ bonus in defense, it took about 2 turns to destroy them all. No challenge at all once you got there. I heard there was an unofficial patch that got out that nerfed the ion canon a little because it was waaaaaay too powerfull, but i did not try it

Tried the 3 alignments. I did conquer with good and i was whipped with neutral. It really depends on the situation in the galaxy. Personally, good is not fun for me. I like the quotes for the evil alignment so much! Neutral is a little too powerfull in the long run. What i don't understand is that the neutral AI races never do anything but sit there and wait to be destroyed. They are quite boring... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Wink.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmid

Hum, you should disable the anti-virus too. And 512 mb? Isn't the game recommended for 1Gb of ram? I have 1GB of ram and an Athlon 3000+. I'm playing at huge galaxy with crippling AI and i did not notice much difference. I do have a Geforce 6800 GT as a graphic card, which must help some. The eye candy is nice but does not give much to the game. After a while, you just don't notice it anymore so you might as well turn it off. What they should do is take the time while i'm doing my tu

Hum, maybe you randomized the intelligence? This seems to put some different intelligent races in the galaxy. Some wery stoupid and some very bright. For my part, i would say that the Drengin seems to be a minor race in the easy and normal difficulty level, but when you get to painfull and higher, they kick your butt big time! The Yor are even worse! The arceans don't seem to be doing anything but sitting around with huge fleets and the Torians are the first to be destroyed! I've neve

My friend, you think this difficulty level is tough? Try the next one at Masochistic. I shat my pants big time! The ai seems to be better than you at everything! He is doing all that you just said, but even faster and better. I tought the crippling level a walk in the park, but when i got to maso, i was rocked off my chair! I still can't beleive how tough the ai becomes. And nobody is your friend... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Mad.gif" border=0 ALIGN="absmidd

Anybody care to share their wisdom on this difficulty level and above? I guess i did not start in such a nice position in my first game on this level and also my ennemies were close and had a very good position, so maybe i was just very unlucky. This level made me remember the first galciv, when you cranked up the level to difficult or something similar and the ai gave you a run for your money. Truly amazing! Those who think the game is too easy, try this level

Can you have any hope of winning on this level with a race that is not warlike(iconian)? I mean when i look at how fast the AI goes for weapons and even with a +20 in research, i lag very far behind. And to make it worse, most race don't like you very much so alliance takes too long to come around to help you. The difference between this level and crippling is incredible! I own the computer big time with crippling difficulty, but with masochistic, i can't do anything if i does not start with a w

Yeah! I'm starting to post to the metaverse and since the 1.1 patch, i can tell you they recalculate the score you submit, but not the old scores. I have submitted a game at 1.0X. I had 14000 points which were displayed on the metaverse. Then, i submitted a game with the beta patch for 1.1. My score was 8000 and it was added to the 14000 to give a score of 22000 on the metaverse. Now yesterday, i've submitted a game from the latest patch 1.1 and my final score was 11000. My metaverse

Definitely up the difficulty setting. From the way you play, i would try to go straight to crippling and you will probably increase it even further. At crippling difficulty, i had the drengin research all the mass driver tek and when i saw their ships with 96 Mass driver attack, i almost fainted. But i was the best researcher so in no time i got pretty good armor against that and good weapons too. Too bad the drenging didn't attack me directly. All in all, i have to increas

Then tek up in defense and weapons and kick mop the floor with their ships. Try a 50% research expense all the time and watch yourself becoming the most tekki empire out there in no time!

Man! I don't know what u are smoking people, but evil is the best by far. Neutral is ok and good is useless! I always tend towards evil and by the time i chose to research Xeno Ethics, i'm already the big bad empire that others fear so when i chose evil for the rest of the game, i get all the bonus and i don't care about the wimpy empires that are left. Oh and i play at 'Painful' difficulty. Yeah, above intelligent. And i still find the AI a little weak! Much improved with the 1.1 bet

Weeeelll, there is a massive difference between what you just said and what oblivion is doing. There are plenty of mods for oblivion with many new quests. You don't have to pay for most of them, so if you want that wizard bumbling moon saratoga thingy, feel free to pay. There is no problems when you have the choice to pay or not. If ever games come to the point that you have to pay for the ending or important parts of it, then a gamer i will be no

And do you know what it takes to flip a planet? I have a little class 4 planet where the influence ratio is at 32 in my favor and it has not flipped ever. This ratio has been there for more than 40 turns now. This little planet is very far from their own borders and in the middle of my empire. I keep it as a test for influence flipping, but i'm not impressed. I've put an influence starbase with max modules on it (+232 influence) and the ratio has

HeHeHe! I too am a gun wielding conqueror, but i know well the importance of diplomacy. Especially early in the game. Notice that when you meet the first AI, they all seems to be pretty far advanced in tek compared to you. Also, most are much better than you at diplo so exchanging tek is costly. But don't worry! Research something they don't have and start SELLING it for cash. This give you more time at 100% spending rate which in turn makes

Hum, i'm still playing with the 1.10X version and in the game i am in i saw the evil altarians declare war on me for no apparent reasons. I was on the other side of the map and they could not reach me with their ships. I did not attack them yet because i was busy elsewhere. I did some fair trading with them and they were in war with the Drengin who were friendly to me. Sometime, another AI will exchange something for another AI to declare wa

1) Could you start by installing your game in another place than the fucking 'My documents' folder? And putting an ' in the name of your user is searching for trouble(Dan's My Documents). Install the game elsewhere in its own folder, apart from windoze system and users folders. If you can install it on another disk or another disk partition its even better! And no fancy name in your folder naming convention. The most i put in my names are spaces.

I have a concern about the latest version, 1.0X. Why is it that when you create a fleet, the logistic point needed seems to be 1 higher than they should? A tiny hull should start at 1 point and a small hull would get a 2 logistic point (Like it says in its description if you open the 'build ship' menu. And a medium would have 3, etc. Is this a concern with the amount of ships that can be put into a fleet?

The problem is that the roll is done at the start of the battle and is kept for all of the battle no matter how many time you hit. This is not fun when you get a bad roll! I can understand your pain with being beaten by a small fighter because he got a high roll with his +5 attack lazer while you got a bad roll with your +24 attack missile which was annihilated by his armor (1 defense). This is insane! It' like saying you have 1 lucky shot a

Trust me, you don't wanna see those guys! You need to play the campaign for them. They have ships with something like 60 firepower battleship when you just discovered Laser 1. They move pretty fast. All in all, fighting them is mostly useless because they can krank ship faster than you can kill one and when you do kill one ship, most of your ships are gone. Best strategy i saw this far is a very fast ship with one flashlight on it to kill hi

- In the campaign, first mission, the starbases bonus do not apply. It does not matter if the starbase is on a ressource or if it is a military/economic/influence starbase, the bonus is never there! The problem is that for the enemy(Drengin), the bonus does apply to them. A little unfair i would say... - Also in the campaign(cause i haven't tried something else yet), first mission, if i add a fi
