Here is the easiest way to apply your icon changes if it did not happen automatically. Go to "Display Settings" Click on the Desktop tab, click on the "Customize Desktop" button at the bottom of the screen. The desktop items screen will appear. Click on "Recycle Bin (Full)". Click "Change Icon...". When the change icon screen will appear. Click browse, find the new icons, click on the icon you want and click ok. This should set you up with the icon you want.
