What about Political Machine? Wasn't that released this month?

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is great as well, and a good counterpoint to 1984. I recommend them both.
HIV's not strictly speaking contagious, but no nation will allow the entry of individuals infected with a fatal disease if they are aware of it. It's just too difficult to justify to the citizenry if someone else is infected.
Based on my own experiences I'd agree with you Draginol on this one. In Australia we introduced universal medicare somewhere around 30-40 years ago. Since then successive governments have failed to adequately fund the system and we're now left with a system where patients might have to wait 6-12 months for non-essential operations and where we cannot get enough nurses to fill demand because the pay is too low. But one point I do disagree wit
Nice black helicopter theory. But I would suggest you get back to reality and instead of spouting the mindless platitudes of people like Michael Moore, think for yourself. IN a word or 2, prove it! Links? Facts? And opinions dont count. Try not to be too much of an asshole. I had read this in an
Using the economic crisis that had resulted from an 8 year conflict as an excuse, Saddam accused Kuwait of actually stealing oil from the two countries shared oil fields, thus 'preventing Iraq's economic recovery' . He was right though - Kuwaiti oil drills were drilling on an angle so they could accesss
At the moment I'm liking Modest Mouse's "The View" or Frenzal Rhomb's "I miss my lung" for exercise. If you're not inspired to move from hearing the beat in The View then something's wrong - consult a mortician. And Frenzal's always a good inspiration.
How would the general populace of Australia feel if their Prime Minister put another countries needs "ahead" of his own people? He does - we are a member of the coalition of the willing, remember. Noone wanted to target Australia until we joined (and don't bother with the bullshit about the Bali bombin
Personally I don't like link articles, but just this once check out this article before reading further: Link Somehow I think this article sums up all the problems we face in this world. If someone's not in our monkeysphere, we're just incapable of feeling any of the compassion that we might
I say no more US tax money to this corrupt and idiotic organisation. The US hasn't paid its dues in years. Don't worry - your taxes aren't going to the UN, and haven't been for some time now.
OIL for FOOD Program, check out the scandal and horror of it, enough to make a person sick. I don't recall saying involving the UN would actually make it morally acceptable - I just feel it would give the appearance of legitimacy in the eyes of those moderate Iraqis who have no response to claim
UN has legitimacy according to who? To Iraqia and terrorists? To those who believe terrorists only attack America because of the invasion, wake up. The first large scale suicide car bomb was done to the UN headquarter. Yes, because in the context it appeared that they were acting as agents of the US gov
Hmmm . . . how would you go about replacing the troops with police officers? Who would train them, and from where would their pay be drawn? How would you get enough people to volunteer considering the violence that has been directed at Iraqis who cooperate with the coalition? It's something Australia ha
I think we've all just learnt a valuable lesson in identifying terrorists - anyone who can spell good is a terrorist!
I'd draft in the UN by allowing a foreign general to be commander and giving full status to allies. The insistence of the US in being commander was one of the major blocking points for UN involvement. If a general from Fiji or even China was commanding the allied troops, the local mullahs would have a hard time convincing the kiddies that the US was an imperialistic power rather than a liberator. Then I'd try and replace as many troops as po

Yep, it's true. All Democrats are stupid and hypocritical. It is only Republicans with flamethrowers that truly understand the universe and all that dwells within......
Stalin??
I found this article in my local newspaper this morning and thought it summed up fairly well my own opinions on the problem of terrorism, although I have a few reservations I'll add later if this article doesn't sink. Some might recognise Ziauddin Sardar's name from his collaborative work with Merryl Wyn Davies, Why Do People Hate America? but to those of you
