Kingbee has provided a good answer Yes, though it is still a bit of the more we know the more we realise we don't know. And agree with you about kingbee being a smart dude. <TD class="mb-Body-Quote-Tex

dharma, I reckon truth filters are essential for a harmonious society. I think everyone loses theirs to some extent when they start drinking. I have come across two people who seem to feel it is some sort of badge of honour to tell people the truth (as they see it) about the person they are talking to. They seem to feel obliged to point out a persons faults whether asked to or not and they dont need to be drinking, it's in their nature. What really

A very entertaining article and certainly one about areas I know little about. The impression you get from the outside is that almost every country in the dark continent (except SA) is either run by a despotic dictator, is at civil war or both. My impression, and it is just an impression, was that, in the past, it was not uncommon to find South African mercenaries meddling in the affairs of other countries. So my automatic reaction on hearing a story l

And why didnt the major media organisations pick this up? Now no conspiracy theories about them being commo, pinky, tree hugging hiipies now) my guess, and I would guess that it is not too far from the truth, that an article by (in his own words) a noted conservative on the far right of the spectrum maybe just a bit slanted to his own political bias.

Interesting article but why are some people more prone to addictions than others? You bring up that Imajinit's friend transferred his addiction from one thing to another. For myself I am a smoker of sorts, in that I will go out and may have 10 or more cigarettes while drinking. Outside of this (which maybe happens once a month) I will have around 5 cigarettes in a week. Somehow the addictive properties of nicotine seem to have bypassed me. When I

Hey welcome David, The more international this site gets the better as far as I'm concerned. Now here is a strange fact for you, I have an Irish passport but I have never set foot in Ireland (Irish grandmother.) One day I'm going to pull my finger out and visit your green, though wet, land.

TARSIER, I didn't mean that all science denies the existence of god. I watched a show some months back which was basically saying that many scientists that are studying the universe are quickly coming to the realisation that there are too many unanswered questions about the beginnings of the universe and, at the moment, one of the best explainations for them is the idea of a creator. As for the existence of god...as I said, for me there are too man

Trinitie, Of course not, and being true to yourself always is an ideal way to be (when you think about it our 'fakeness' is really a defence mechanism.) I felt here your expectations of yourself are very high. There is no problems setting high standards of yourself but if you fall short you should not beat yourself up about it as you seemed to be doing here (sorry if I read it wrong.) You sound like a true idealist but idealists also need to be pra

Muggaz, Generally I agree though I think you could probably squeeze a few more categories in there. As far as JU goes I don't even bother with the first type. These people just rant and they are not interested discussing a topic they just want to shove it down your throat. The second type I also get along with, yes they may disagree but they will argue with you logically and to the point. I often post comments with these people and enjoy

I have gone back to read some of your other articles and could identify with aspects of them myself. Normally I do not recommend books, particularly to people I do not know but you may find Paulo Coelho's 'The Pilgrimage' interesting reading.

This is an excellent piece of writing, well researched and argued. I am not about to argue with you as to whether God exists or not. Personally, and for many of the reasons you quote here, I cannot bring myself to believe that some force of order does not exist in this world. Whether you call it God or any other name matters little to me. What I do not believe in is the God of the Christian Bible. For me this God is a God of inconsistencies which,

Trin, How I appear to others is a lie, and I use that lie. I feed off admiration when I have nothing to admire. The way anyone appears to anyone else is a lie. How much of our true selves and how much of our fake selves we show to anyone depends on how close we feel to them (which has nothing to do with

Surely if you are going to start a website inviting confessions you should not be surprised at anything you get. You make it sound like it should be a web version of a church confessional....now I am not catholic, but my impression is that the priest is there to hear anything you have to confess....including men dressing up in high heels and masturbating if thats what you want to confess to him. The difference here seems to be the confession is open fo
