so if there are so many homes with two workers--both of whom are potentially working 50-60 hours a week, technology that's doing just about everything at speeds unimagined 30 years ago, much more efficient means of maintaining inventory and much more precise tooling up time....whats's wrong?

I don't know about that. possibly im not being clear or perhaps your misinterpreting the statement. my point is that while its not uncommon for members of a racial group to refer to themselves using words that would be totally objectionable when used by those who arent members of that group, it really doesnt help the overall situation--even it its done to 'reclaim' the word or diminish its power. all that really does is keep the word in circulation.

Slurs ARE name-calling. It's all meant to be hurtful and to degrade the intended recipient let me try to be more clear. slurs are a subset of insults. racial slurs are a subset of slurs--as are religious slurs, cultural slurs, etc. this particular racial slur exists in further subset and is unique in that its has been used for well over two centuries to maintain a specific racial group--collectively and individually--is irredeemably sub human. factor in the impact of over 200

i dont know much about texas other than a. it takes a couple months to drive across the state, b. if i had to live there, id choose east texas over west texas c. i saw more dead armadillos along the side of the roads in louisiana. of the multiple choice and t/f i missed one each but would have missed more if i hadnt noticed several of the correct answers were pretty much given away a few questions down the list. since i was guessing, i could as easily done much worse.
yeah i do. today, the longshoremen union is the only one i know of that is able to negotiate a contract that enables its members to share available hours and still earn enough--without having to depend on overtime--to support a family at a level comparative to what i remember guys who worked at the mills or the car plants (so like 8 of 10 households on our block) doing when i was growing up.
