Some motherboards have limitations as to how much ram they can handle. If you have the documentation, you might check that. Sometimes a bios update can fix it. "just a guess"

Brad.... sorry, but that argument won't fly......... Axialis offers a LIFETIME of upgrades as compared to 1 year. Well, I'm not so sure about that. I bought this icon program in January, 1998 (v4.0), but they claim they can't find me in the data base and have quit responding to my e-mails. It is an excellent program with outstanding icl handling. The only gripe I have with it, is the inability to select irregular shapes for copying. (Iconforge does that). I am stil
I would also like for Windowblinds to apply an Iconpackager theme again. It has not worked on Win98 or Win 2k for me since the Iconpackager program was changed over to a new version back last winter. And, I would like to have the top 2 rows of pixels back on the tab border. (I don't know where they went, but they are missing now on all the themes I have.)
Oh, sorry, I thought she meant the buttons.
I've been trying to download some updates and OD just transfers the 1k CMI file and quits. Any idea what's going on?
The new version of SkinStudio finally has that. Also button option for Logging buttons.
How about a font and font color choice for the XP Menu?
Treetog Could you put Siderado on the list? That's one of the best skins ever. Thanks
I really appreciate seeing that post by Kaosati. That took courage. I am always saddened by the attacks on Stardock and Frogboy. I'm not one of the "Stardock Mafia" or even one of the "in crowd" (actually I wouldn't even qualify as a skinner)but I consider Stardock to be the best thing that ever happened to the Windows desktop. I have been a hopeless addict of desktop customization since 1989 when I found a program that would give you 256 color choices in DOS 3, and when I found Windowblinds
I'm on Win2k, and it's there on my machine. Did you doubleclick Iconpackager.exe and click on the third icon on the left?
If I remember correctly, this was an issue when WB 3.0 first came out. If you are using an old version, download the current one. If not, try deleting the catalog file in the Windowblinds directory, and it will rebuild it the next time it is accessed.
Yes, under Settings, item 2 is "display shortcut overlays"
IMO 48x48 shows well on Win98 or Win2k. Looking forward to the releases.
Raistlin--Welcome to the Firey Pits of Hell.
Thank you for your response. I would probably get into trouble anyway with a windowblinds skin with the XP Menu, when I don't have XP to test it on.
Bakerstreet--How does that work when you have updated a skin? Do you send the pieces to the original author? It doesn't seem like you could post it under your own name. Just curious. Think "Breal Windowblinds"
After enjoying a T-1 line at work for the last five years, the company I worked for imploded in the dot com bust. Now most of the time I'm back to 56k that usually connects at 26.4k (a Texas thing?) It sure is painful. There is no DSL available to me in this small town, and satellite is too expensive. Life is hard.
Most Icon editing programs will import a bitmap and save it as an icon. I use Axialis IconShop and IconForge. They both will perform this function. Also, they both will save the icons in an icl, but Axialis does a better job of this (IMO).
I saw on the Axialis website that Carlitus was one of the winners of the icon contest for his Noia icon set. No surprise there.
I actually did upgrade my operating system from Win98 to Win2k because I was having so much trouble with the Stardock apps. Win98 ran just fine without any Stardock apps loaded, but it would just go into a tailspin with WB v3 & OB running. I now have a $600 printer gathering dust because there are no Win2k drivers for it and Duke Nukem 3D won't run, but the Stardock stuff looks great. Everything is a trade-off.
Well, what level did you get changed to? Perhaps your level was raised because you had bought some of the products.
I updated my thumbnail with a much smaller preview, and it is ok now (Breal in Screenshots). Maybe I misunderstood the directions, because I thought it said to submit normal size and site would resize, but it came out a huge slice of the pic. Guess I will know better next time.
GreenReaper-Thank you for your reply. I have been a OD subscriber for 2 years, and have the latest programs. I have posted several times in the newsgroups, but had no resolution. WinStyles won't run at all (can't load skin.dll), and Windowblinds won't apply the Icon Package anymore. The Iconpackager issue is not just Win 98, as it doesn't work on Win 2000 either.
I had excellent stability on my Win 98 box until about version 3.10 of Windowblinds. Now it crashes continually. Returning to the desktop from a full screen DOS program locks up the computer totally if Windowblinds is loaded. Object bar is just about unusable. It crashes while I'm typing in notepad or if I just mouseover on the start menu. If I disable Windowblinds and ObjectBar, I have no crashes at all.
