I agree that Govt money should not be used to pay for abortion. I have not made up my mind about the issue of abortion yet. I don't like the idea of people abusing the the idea that they can have sex without caring they get pregnant or not because the Govt will pay for the abortion, if legal. But then I don't like the idea of a child being brought to this world and neglected by the parent, taking in by our Govt then placed in a foster home till he/she

If only you could stop supporting policies that have given us the trade deficit, the Federal deficit, our bankrupt energy policy, our non solution for Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security and the Iraq War that has not made us safer. There is NOTHING that Bush and his policies have done to solve ANY of the major issues that exis

I'm almost crying myself here just reading it. Wow, I almost envy you. I don't have a cat, yet, and things haven't been too good lately that I couldn't get a gift for my wife this year. But I promiss to make it up to her. Great story. Would love to see your cat in action, I love cats.

This kinda sounds like what I have always said about why do we need History in school. I never liked histiry and I have never believed it would benefit me financially. But for some it is beneficial. I do how ever feel bad for those who get good grades in some classes but bad in others cause they just don't get it.

COL, IF your statement is correct, why didn't oil prices KEEP climbing instead of coming down? The reason they came dfown is people STOPPED BUYING as much. They carpooled, bought more efficient vehicles (in many cases returning SUV's to the car lots), and did everything they could to consume less oil. As I said in another

It's obvious that not everyone can always get from point A to point B without a car of their own (or borrowed). But it's worth a try when ever it's possible. I tend to point my finger towards those who can actually walk but chose not too. Kinda like my sister.

I'm going to agree and disagree with you both here, DJ. While there's nothing "enobling" about being "poor", there's nothing necessarily wrong with it either, provided one is content with their lot. Statistically, my family is fairly poor, but the remedies I could find for that would involve sacrificing time with my family that I

You really need to open your eyes, ears and brain Col. In your plan, how will the higher cost of gasoline impact inflation and how will the low and middle income families pay the higher prices? They will use public transportation just like everyone else and learn to conserve energy like everyon

The policies of Bush were designed to help a certain groups of Americans. Those policies have been successful. The wealthy and those that benefit from certain big business like the oil and energy companies have done very well. The net worth of the top 5% is MUCH higher under the Bush policies then even during the 1990's prosperit

I acknowledged in earlier Blogs and in my book that the Energy dependence goes back to the 1970's and before. The issue for me is that here we have a President and VP that were in the oil business and they have undone some of the progress like Cafe Standards. The Bush/Cheney team with their experience should have been MORE able t

Drilling only delays the problem I agree. We don't need more oil. We need more education, more sense (specially Col). What we need is to learn to not be so dependent in our own vehicles. Why is it that we can't just walk once in a while to work if it is not so far? Why can't we catch a bus, trolly, trai

Much of the added cost to drive our cars and heat our homes goes either to the FAT oil companies or to foreign countries for the oil. You make it sound like this only started after Bush became President. News flash buddy, this has been going on for a long time. Way before Bush became President.

I drove the car less often. I walked when ever I could. I was good excersize, I lost a few pounds so I an not that unhappy with the prices being so high. Col Gene, I find it interesting that you being the one complaining about the defecit and how Bush keeps giving money to the Big Corps, like right here on this very article: <TD class="mb-Bod

That doesn't mean that people should get free money just because they need it. I have earned everything I own, I have worked for what I have. If I can do it so can they. Unless they are handicaped or of age, they can do just as good or better. Being poor is just an excuse to get free money. But what would you know, chances are you don't even know what it is to be poor and if you do then you really have a twisted way of trying to help them by making the

Response # 6 prime example of the greed that grips the conservatives in this country. What a sad excuse for humanity you people are. How dare you. You don't know me, you know nothing of me. There is not a greedy bone in my body. I am the first to sacrifise my lunch to give it to someone who has nothing

Frustration is probably a better way to describe it. People are getting fed up with the incompetence by the Bush administration in managing this war. I love it when people talk as if they spoke for everyone else. Here's this is for you. link. Li

Actually, since this was in the stated plans all along, Rush Limbaugh opined today that the left, after Christmas of course, is going to claim credit for it! And it is so devious, I have to agree with him on this! See? Murtha and Pelosi made us withdraw troops! Screams the Washington Pest and the NY trips.

Nor should wealth become over indulgent--like $700,000 watches and ten million dollar birthday party at the Rainbow Grill atop Rockefeller Plaza. Umm, I don't agree. If your wealth is self made, no one should tell you how to spend it. The point of having more money is to get better things. If not then
