I agree that many of the old masters have influenced the writers of today, and that such a list is very subjectiv.But say a writer is very influenced by a master,almost a copyist,but adds his own personal style and improve on the writing, wich is then the better writer ? I cant say whos the better one, but then again I must say that regarding music I like the originals better that the remakers of today. My piont is ( I think !) we all have our top 10lists in music, writers, painters etc etc.But

Just a thought..how can you say" Greatest Authors of ALL time" well I agree that Steinbeck was a great writer at on point in time , but things change.I loved steinbeck , Kerouac , Kafka and all those so called great writers at one time, but now I like someone else. Is it that we want the books we read and loved to be the greatest of all time ? Ask a kid what he/she think is the greatest writer of all time.....guess what , I dont think that any of those old dead people will make it to
