Ever have one of those days in the blogging community, where you woke up with a dynamite idea for a post? You proceeded to develope it in your head through out the day, during work hours, and came home saying "Yeah...I have a blog masterpiece!"? And then you read the responses to your other blog submissions. You spend a fair amount of time respo

I haven't checked my blog in a couple days, and now I see that I have 21 comments on the Cheney post! Holy cow. It is good that I encouraged a discussion. That was my intent, but I never expected such a large response from THAT post. http://lenbert.joeuser.com/articleComments.asp?AID=19317 The response was great, both positive and negative. T
I have not viewed Fahrenheit 911, nor have I viewed anything else that Michael Moore has done. From everything that I've heard and read, it is not a "documentary", and should not be classified as such. It should not be defined as a "documentary" because there is no opposing view. It is simply Michael Moore, stating his views regarding 9/11. So wher
I use to think Dick Cheney was a wimp. Until today. During a heated discussion with Senator Patrick Leahy (D), Cheney dropped the F-bomb against the opposing Senator. The reports are varied, but Cheney's remarks had something to do with Leahy "having intercourse with himself". Now THAT is the type of assertivness I want to see from our administrati
To Whom It May Concern. Thank you. In all seriousness, Jay has mentioned that he has studied the "old style" comics. I have as well, all though comic I am not. Writer, yes I am in some nebulous capacity. From Lewis & Martin, to Hope, to Abbott & Costello, to Rickles, to Hacket, to Berle, to Silvers, to Winters et al, Jay is merely breathing fres
For the second time in as many days, there has been a report on the news regarding the potential ill (long term) effects of the Atkins Diet. Well, it's about dang time! I was wondering when there would be an intelligent, scientific opposition to this diet fantasy. Granted, I am not overweight. I am the unfortunate recipient of some "high metabo
The squirrels they taunt me. Beyond the cold, rigid glass. Mrrowr! Hiss-hiss! LLS
I have taken to feeding squirrels on my back deck. It's a bit ironic because I said that I would post an article here daily (across different categories), but for the past couple days I haven't posted anything, mainly because I've been in a creative dry spell, and I've taken to feeding the squirrels on the back deck. I find myself watching the mammal dynam
Thank you Infogeek! Your links were a lot more insightful than those I received from the "unofficial" Mythbusters site. (http://mythbustersfanclub.com ) Regards, LLS
(Author's note: With any of my random, abstract thoughts, you can't just "browse". You have to read all of it. They may appear to be rambling at first, but all of my postings are intended to take a person from point "a" to point "b".) Nuradin Abdi was arrested this past week under allegations that he was planning to detonate an explosive device at an Ohi
People who chronically play the lottery aren't "Gamblers". They are "Alternative 401K Plan Participants". LLS
In my 42 years, I don't believe that I have never done the research on this. Cannon balls DO NOT explode, as much as Hollywood insist's that they do. Or do they? I saw "The Patriot" a few years back, and I was quite amazed at the "reality" of the movie. For all of it's war violence, it was very elegantly directed. One of the minor items from t
I had a restless night last night. I spent a half hour surfing the cable channels for something that would either hold my attention, or lull me into a peaceful slumber. I stumbled on to something completely, utterly terrifying - Geraldo Rivera in Afghanistan, with Jesse Jackson offering live commentary. I watched this sitting bolt upright, c
MasonM ROF ! Great response! Here I was trying to be all serious and stuff, allbeit tounge-in-cheek. I'll write you in, come November. I can just picture the auditors saying "WTF is 'MasonM'?" LLS
I have a hard time figuring out what the national media deems "important". I use to have a largely pessimistic attitude on human behavior as it applies to the media. The idea that we are all sheep, with the media talking heads being the shepherds....corralling the ideas and beliefs of the general population into THEIR pre-disposed beliefs and suppositions.
My room mate made the comment this morning: "Boy, your IQ certainly drops a couple of notches on the weekends." I have no argument there. During the Monday-to-Friday work week, my job requires me to be "analytical", "inqusitive" , to look at things from different angles and also to look at things from a "direct cause and effect" standpoint. So durin
Sometimes I wish I were a father..... Just so I could get presents in June. :D LLS
I wish you all the luck Mason! If you get it, I'll be jealous. Not really. Why can't I get a cool job like that? I guess being a CAD Technician, I'm resigned to working in the "dungeon" of an office. LLS
So, there I was driving to work this morning. It's a 4-lane road and the two lanes in my direction were moving at a pretty good clip. The pack of cars I was trailing was pushing 55 in 45 MPH zone. Both lanes of traffic in my direction were more or less, travelling at about the same speed. Suddenly, and seemingly out of no where, a Ford F150 comes screami
MasonM Nice! And thanks for the information! In response to the "HATE" for radical anit-smokers, yeah to some extent, me too. I'm not anti smoking, but I'm not pro smoking either. I'm pretty much a smoker, sitting on the fence. If that makes any sense whatsoever. LLS
I am forced to listen to AM talk radio in my truck. I am "forced" because my FM died a couple years ago and I have a cassette jammed in the tape player (Eagles Greatest Hits, Vol. 2). There is a local radio talk show host that is aired 3pm to 7pm. My drive time home from work is 4:30pm to 5:00pm. So basically, I only get to hear about 30 minutes of the sho
Oh man, I know how you feel. It was almost 11 years ago, I packed everything into my pickup and moved from Rochester NY to Richmond VA (Because Richmond is where my then-fiance' moved to. lol She's now my ex. Anyway....) I know EXACTLY what you're going through! On the up-side of things, you might decide you like Florida, after the initial cultural shock. I certainly don't plan on moving back to Rochester. I like it here! LLS
[Author's note: Moved from "Politics" to "Blogging"] I have felt a need to get this off of my chest. Reagan as a human being, not a politician or a Republican. I graduated from high school in 1981. Before that time, I was merely on the periphery of global events. It was not until I attended college that I became submerged in world events.
I've been considering a blog for many months now. Without even remotely trying to make this appear as a solicitation on a "Dating" website, I'm forty-something, male, jack of all trades - master of none. There are a lot of things that I want to say, which I DO say on a regualr basis to close friends. But those conversations are only transient. They
