Also, I didn't mention before. If the image looks bad in ps, then try to remove colors, or have as many things the same colors as possible. image indexing dumps color info, so the less info you have to start with the less it will attempt to blend while it dumps the rest of the info. I usually have a solid color back, such as black or grey, and I try to keep my colors as minimum as possible. This will aleviate the work ps has to do to try to blend the p

in photoshop I use local(selective) at 16 colors with either none or black and white forced with a 50 to 75% noise dither. Be careful tho, it may not be an issue with the actual image. If the image looks good in ps, but horrible when you reboot, then it may be your progressbar, (if you used one). I have that problem with mine. For some reason the image looks great without the progressbar ani. but looks terrible with it. The link I sent you to on ph

no sweat on your left in the tree, you will see titlebar buttons freeform. the very last section (should be something like 17-1) click it, if a little perforated mask box like in adobe appears around it, then you have the right one, or click the icon itself go to the tree and select "remove section". Oce that's done it will disappear, and Voila! done. Just keep in mind that, that's the system icon that will appear for whatever app is in the window.

Here is a link for the Photoshop tutorial http://www.netbadger.com/bootskin_tutorial/ If you don't have Photoshop there is also a tutorial within the bootskin directory itself. Just like Cavani said. I hope this helps.

OK that's it! *looks for dull rusty razor blade* I'm gonna cry! All I want is an animated titlebar. That's all I ask for, but nooooooo, not for me, God hates me!....lol j/k. I am however in need of some assistance. I'm working on my new skin, and trying to animate the titlebar, but it isn't showing, in the skintest or the actual wb. the image is 16 frames from top to bottom, I have it set to dynamic, (disabled it to see if it would help) but nothing se

I really didn't think I was that important to start a thread about! and yes Jaffo was very correct. I did jump the gun, and feel horrible about it. from now on I will take take very close care over what I say and do, and moreover I'm working on a new skin that hopefully will raise the bar abit. I'm no skinner yet, but someday I hope to be up there with the greats like Pixtudio's Treetog, and Jaffo. Such kind words will not go unheard by me from my fell

You can also set the font size to 1 and then use the "capture color" feature and select the same color as the background it's on. This won't get rid of it, but it will hide it. I tried both methods described by Lady Snowman, and Night Train, and I couldn't seem to get it to work. Not that their wrong at all, I just couldn't do it...lol. Maybe Godzilla's putting up a fight? hehehehe Take care man, I'm glad it worked out for you, and can't wait to see

Rbeeger is right, also keep in mind that the contents margins and the sizing margins will both work together under certain instances. the contents margins control where the contents of the selected image will be placed by the skin, they also control how big the contents are. Just becareful in playing with them, because it will also distort your image to fit the contents. Also, also, keep in mind that you may have to adjust all of the other images withi

when you say "icons" do you mean objects? If so, try right clicking on the object, and saving it as an object, rather than having the cash refresh it. I've noticed that DX objects are very version specific. If you updated DX, try deleting the object, and remaking it under the new version of DX, then save it, and it should work ok. Also, try checking in the properties dialogue under "Relationship". Make sure that your obj. is set to Visible>yes. If you'

possibly weasel, it depends on what you are looking for. I do animations for DX and some for WB. I just uploaded a DX container that pulses from red to black. it should be up in a day or so. Lemme know what you are interested in and I might be able to help.

I just recently began playing with Skinstudio's capability to skin win media player skins. I'm having a huge problem with the freeform slider. It shows up beautifully in the skin preview, but not on the skin itself! I've tried just about everything. I think it has something to do with the slider map.png I removed it and got a default icon in my slider's place. If anyone knows how to create a map image PLEASE HELP!! I'm quickly losing my mind! Thanks

I have the same problem with my objects Wendi, My sounds used to work, but then I updated, and the only way they would work is to click>hold the cursor on the object. Otherwise the sound would be stopped abruptly. The only way I semi-solved it was by resetting the object (found in the animations tab), and re-attatching the sound, but it only works some of the time, and once my cursor leaves the "visible area" of the object it stops. It's a real pai

I'm not sure if this is an undocumented feature, but I am having a problem with adding sounds to my objects. In the past they have all worked great, but since I updated from DX 1.0 I can't seem to get them to "play" unless I hold my mouse button down on the object. If I release the button my sounds stop. I currently have 2.40f[a] DX. I have been using very short, and simple .wav files. ie: Bender from Futurama, "Bite my shiny metal ass", and the like.

If you are refering to what was once called a "popup" You have to make sure that your parent object is linked to the child object. First off, make sure that your parent has an object ID, to do this right click the object go to properties, then to Summary. Therein you will see Appearance, Description, and Origin. In the Origin section you will see, Object ID. Name your object whatever you want, and apply. Make sure you do this with the child obj

I've had IP enhanced for awhile now and just started creating larger icons for use with it. I have included new 72px, 96px, and 128px in the new icon set I am creating. The problem is, I can't seem to get my pc to display icons past 72x72. When I switch the icon size to 128x128 it actually makes them the standard 48x48! I even went into the default display properties in XP and unchecked Large Icons to see if XP was restraining the images, but no such l

I just recently began playing with button animations (ie:) taskbar, and so forth. As it stands the animations themselves seem to work fine. I have green glass taskbar capsules that have a gradient fade from green to blue so they appear to "pulse" when hovered. The issue I'm having is that the pressed state almost never works, and it randomly switches color sequence. It works fine when I first start up, but it seems the more apps that are open, or the m
