I'm curious about rally points in regard to starports. I see the planets have a greyed out button for it and was wondering if that's how we will be setting our rally points for whatever starport that that particular planet is sponsoring? Seems like that's how you're going with them as opposed to the starports themselves having a rally point button. I also enjoy the streams but usually catch them on YouTube as twitch TV can be a bit... twitchy at times in how reliable the strea

A little tip: put a glowing yellow part on the front of your ships starting base hull. I have asked the Deve to bring back the function tool button that turns ship to face front.
Thanks for that, it's what I figured I did. Once yo

Good find on the work around! I haven't gotten to that point in a game yet (I still need to build that crap out of everything to get ready for what's coming) but when I do this is good to know.
I think that due to their very high tactical value, they should come with some sort of both offensive/defensive things that would discourage early rushing of the enemy ports. In theory they would be the highest defended object above a planet, perhaps give a defensive bonus based on value and population of the planet its anchored to?
Not sure. I don't just want some artificially feeling construct in the name of game balan
Was playing around with the designer last night and did something I don't know how. When viewing the ship in the game it always flies backwards! I like the design but can't figure out how to fix this without changing the design... Sometimes a little knowledge can be very dangerous! :)
Thanks for the reply! I totally blocked out that lower left corner box of sponsors... don't know how I didn't notice it but thanks for pointing it out for me. Better get these glasses checked...
I'm curious as to whether we are able to reassign a planet to be a sponsor to another starport, is it possible? I've assigned 2 planets to sponsor one starport, now one of the planets has built it's own starport and I would like these two planets to sponsor it now. How can I do it? Thanks for any hints/info.
Well I definitely noticed the cash difference! LOL Things are progressing slowly for me in my game. One thing that has happened that I was concerned about when I first heard about starports, once I ran into the Iridians, as I said, I quickly switched to military research and building and soon had 3 furies by their 3 planets. I destroyed all their ports and just parked there. In 200 turns I've now destroyed 99 starports of theirs! I'm just waiting to be able to research invasion techs
I started at 6pm last night and looked up and it was past 10pm and I still did not encounter the enemy as I had not researched life support. I was really establishing my empire and I still have not researched weapons or defenses.
I started with a large random galaxy with 3 AI. I got located in the SE edge of a spiral galaxy. Within 5 turns I find out 2 of the AI are put right next to me! I had to start focusing on things to get to them and

It's a fine balance between providing a lot of replayability in the base game itself / providing free, meaningful updates / supporting the modding community.
Amen! And you obviously have a working formula as you've been around for a few years ;) and look to be hanging around for a bit longer. At least I hope so and that's why I support you

Looks good so far! I just tried making a new ship with the redesigned shipbuilder and was doing really well until I tried playing with the animation. Wanted to cancel what I had done and hit cancel and lost all of my work!!! Stupid user error... But I really like what yo
I've only spent about 10 min. with it so far (working still...) but I noticed a "glitch" right off the bat. Starting as the Terrans, I noticed that Mars was right next door, and its' dark side had all these lights on like it had been colonized. Seeing this was turn one, I obviously hadn't done that yet. Can't wait to dive into it some more tonight!
I might also guess that the people predominantly playing strategy games skew older. For me, I prefer Turn-Based games. When life shouts at you to do something, it's amazing to be able to walk away and deal with those situations without disrupting other people's game time. A large part why I don't do much with MMO's any more.
I suspect you're right, though I wasn't in
See!? I told you they had plenty of time to Q&A this puppy! Really looking forward to checking this one out.
Nice!!! Can't wait for some free time now to play, I mean, test this out.
Surprised to see this debate about RTS vs Turn based games. Like many others, I don't get into RTS games that much. I hate the feeling of "racing against the clock", plus, now that I'm older (57) I have much less time for gaming and like to relax and take my time when I do. Most of the RTS games I've played get me all revved up and hyper as I'm all caught up in what the AI is doing and trying to race against their moves. The computer will always think much faster than I can so
AAAAAnnnnnd back on topic. :) I sure hope that patch comes out today or tomorrow! I mean, come on, they've had a whole weekend for Q&A and then Monday on top of it!! Like who needs more time to test quality than that?!? ;)
I have seen this bug before. I don't remember if I found a workaround or gave up on it.
Well, for me the work around seems to be loading a save game. It happens a lot with my champion, Tuathla (sp?) where I notice that he doesn't even spawn in that I can see and thus is labeled as defeated. Thanks for the confirmation for me.
I was wondering what was taking you so long! ;) Nicely done.
I think it must be a bug as I turned on the save game feature and loaded up after it happened again and replayed with the same results, no one taking damage, and the champion was reported correctly. So I'll just leave that on and re-fight the mission if it happens again.
I have to admit this is pretty cool! Thanks for providing the details/education, XavierMace, it's appreciated!

Okay, this is the 2nd time this has happened to me and I'm starting to think it's a bug. Twice now, I've been in a battle, once with my sovereign and once with one of my champions. The first time with my sovereign I was fighting and he took some damage, about 40%. After the battle was over, it showed him as defeated! I just now had a battle with one of my champions and he never even got to take a turn before I killed all the enemies. None of my guys were hit at all. Again, the cha
I'd like to know who is going to be modeling the asteroid thong that Derek mentioned in the release notes thread? Trying to imagine who it would look better on... Paul? His dog? Curious minds and all...
