Actually, I've never tried a Dell, but I have friends & acquaintances who have. Most state the older XP Dell's were actually better than newer XP Dell's (no bloatware), that the newer ones DO have bloatware installed and tend to be less stable/reliable ....despite the more modern hardware being (supposedly) better on DELL configurations. I just bought a new Dell laptop (I, too, usually avoid pre-builds for desktops, though), and I can attest to the bloat

I've been using IE7 since it came out and no, it does not have issues for me. I had issues with IE7 for the first few weeks of release, as did several other people I know. Somewhere in there, though, it got patched and I like it in its patched form. As for Defender, I know very few people who use it regularly.

btw, when you set up a rule you can have Outlook move existing mail too - so no need to go through everything The *only* real rules I have setup RE: Outlook are for the tower alerts (everytime a tower goes down or comes back up, however briefly, I get an email. This can amount to literally hundreds of emails per day) and for the software that we sell. I need to get more organized, but for now, the rules work nicely in those two categories.

Personally, I would fear a Libertarian government. It gives too much power into the hands of the (presumably) unelected committee that gets to make up the rights people have. Home Basic runs fine on 512mb RAM from what I have seen in stores. That's without any apps added other than what's bundled. Add in Office 2007, WoW, and select other apps, and you'll see why it's a dog. Of course, if you're dumb enough to buy a computer with 512MB memory to run WoW, etc, well, I'd say you shouldn't be surprised when your machine runs like a 90 year old on Quaaludes!

Vista runs wonderfully in my virtual machine. The only "dog" on performance is on the graphics end because virtual machines don't see the graphics accelerator. But considering it has to run INSIDE my host O/S, I'm actually fairly impressed with its performance. But it will still be awhile before I run my main machine on Vista.
