Frankly, Brad, I have a large family and don't speak with my siblings anymore. My friends ARE my family; I am not a very trusting soul, so when I give someone my trust, that's the best gift I can give. I have to say that friends are in many cases, much more valuable than family.

Well, the family's all tucked in bed, and I can say...this has been an interesting experience for my wife, a lifelong Wisconsinite, to move out to the middle of the desert. The heat has been a horrible burden for her, and we look daily at the calendar to see how close we are to September. With the baby due in August and a full week lost to a broken swamp cool
Capt. keep smiling, you have two girls that like you, and you make them feel good which is hard to find. Take care not to break their hearts but most importantly dont break your own. Not to mention, two very wonderful girls that like you...I do pray you'll try and be very considerate of them and respec
Wow, Steve, I wish you were correct, but I haven't met very many Christians who are liberals. Your realm of experience, then, is incredibly limited...there are plenty out there.
For instance when you villified Florida for suddenly trying to prevent felons from voting when that is actually the law there and in other states and has been for a long time. Baker, The question (and I emphasize question, as I haven't checked into it much for its validity) on the felons in Fl
For instance... if a wild dog catches a rabbit and rips it to shreds, she is ok with this. But if a human rips a rabbit to shreds, she has a problem with this? The rabbit gets the same treatment in either case. The difference is that the dog is following its nature, while the human is following a sadistic whim. So is she really c
I am a misfit. More to the point, I'm a misfit Christian. I often feel like Diogenes, only instead of seeking an honest man, I am seeking a vibrant, living faith. While I am prone to judge, time has taught me that we are all imperfect in our beliefs and theologies, and I am loathe to cast undue judgement on someone else's beliefs without extensive B
Thanks for this post, Jill. Our pastor's daughter was recently diagnosed with Leukemia, and we're asking our girls to consider donating as a show of support.
we don't have cable OR broadband internet. we get dodgy cell phone coverage (if at all). we have no kerbing or guttering and there's no supermarket for miles !. no buildings over 2 stories. no office blocks. we don't have cable or broadband, either...and 1/2 mile from the house begins an area where all
Well, one of these days, it's my fond hope that my name is listed among your "celebrity bloggers". As for muggaz, we all know he's a hack (just kidding, mugz....)
Fine! Just because I have a life outside of JU and you got here first! sok, poet....we'll all console ourselves knowing cs is just a point whore...lol
Carebear, I'm sorry to hear about everything. You're a wonderful young lady, and I enjoy your posts, and I know that "other fish in the sea" thing sounds incredibly corny right now, but I know you will find someone who lives and values you for the wonderful person you are . You're too good a person not to.
What partisanship? Alexander is a Republican. Excellent point, and a "lock in step" Bushie as well. This goes on to further cast doubts on its place as a "private" email. One thing I won't do where either politician is concerned, though, is disparage their faith. Faith is a personal i
what about the serenity and solitude available at marion, il. That's a maximum security lockup....
Maybe we're still allowing smokers to smoke because, deep down, we don't WANT a totalitarian government. Just a thought. For the record: littering is illegal. Recklessly causing a fire is also illegal. It stands to reason that there are already legal standards in place to punish such irresponsible activity. For the record, I'm a nonsmoker.
Yup, mignuna... as someone who lives in the country, I can relate. I was actually ecstatic when we moved here and found our mailbox was nonexistent; we had to put one in ourselves for home delivery. But it's all worth it when I can go hack off a hunk of one of my mesquite trees for the firepit (we also will be harvesting the beans and trying them for their nutritional value, as they were a staple of the Paiute diet).
congratulations, shades...nice to know there's another one of us who work for a boss that doesn't suck (this said after cashing the check with the extra $1 an hour raise I didn't know about until Monday).
Fine, but did you grow up with poverty throughout your whole entire life? So if someone works hard and gets ahead, they're suddenly a hypocrite? I don't buy that. I have been below the poverty level most of my life...by CHOICE, as I choose to place my aspirations as a writer above the financial
I don't think it was insensitive or rude, frankly. I used to have a much nicer take on the LDS church (my mother is LDS) until recently. I would explain further, but I'd be hijacking your thread
Insightful, Marv. In fact, I have heard rumours (and was even supplied with a pie chart) that suggest that Kerry mutilates puppies. You may want to check it out.
I don't see the article as being indicative of an aryan bent, frankly. Racism is racism, no matter what the skin color of the racist may be. I am no fan of Bush's, but I don't think the race card is necessarily appropriate to Bush--there are plenty of arguments with far more merit which can be used here. The NAACP was once a very valid, useful organization--there was a time in this country when it was VITALLY needed. But if we are ever to hope
i agree, not sure what the 1st one means. but i agree that dean and nader are there. kerry and edwards that deep surprised me. happy with bush at last. But Al Sharpton at 65%? That's kinda scary, dude...any way you slice it....lol
Very nicely written article. I agree wholeheartedly.
Hmmm...pretty bold allegations from someone who doesn't know me...So, tell me, voodoo...how is it that you missed being part of the "chickenshit" that comprises the rest of us peasants and managed to find enlightenment while 6 billion other people wander in the darkness. I concur with greywar's invitation for you to feel free to take your own advice.
