I think we need censors. 9 months ago I made a decision that my child would only watch taped television shows with no ads and only shows like hi-5 and playschool because I found some of the things in primetime slots viewed by children was just inappropriate - and I can't think of an example atm. I belie

1/ prostitution ? Morally I am opposed, but I don't see that illegalizing prostitution has done any good whatsoever (I have seen areas of legalized prostitution, and find them incredibly well managed, and am, most of all, pleasantly surprised by the absence of "streetwalkers" in the area, as it's confined to brothels 2/ drugs ? I do not choose to use (most) drugs, but believe God put every herb here for our use (read: not abuse), and do n
As a Christian, I believe that murder is one of the highest crimes one can commit. Murder of a child is even worse. There are theological reasons for my believing this, which I will not go into for the risk of hijacking your thread. The point I want to make is that when a person's heart is hardened to the point where they become a murderer, I think they've already crossed a moral line that cannot be re-crossed very easily. I do not think it wo
3. Badnarik, Michael - Libertarian (63%) Brad, we may just make a libertarian outta you yet...
#1 for me was "your ideal presidential candidate"...lol #2 was Michael Badnarik at 87% (Libertarian Party candidate)...no surprise there. #3 was George Bush at a "whopping" 47%...lol. S'ok, I was voting for Badnarik anyway
I DO see the precedent you cite (the prohibition against politicking from the pulpit) as a 'good thing' because it helps reinforce the neccesary (to my mind) separation of Church and State. Heck, I'd like to see a whole lot MORE separation... That said, however, I think it would be a spectacularly BAD thing to impose a government
I didn't realize that a few others had already posted a similar idea. I just found this out after I wrote this article. lol...no problem. It's good to get a multitude of views on this.
The irony is, I'm the perfect mystery shopper. I can write concisely and make pointed observations when needed, and best of all, I do not look the part...in fact, if there's crappy service to be had, I usually get it (something about a longhaired dude in jeans makes people think they can get away with being sphincters).
Well, I'd have to sit down and evaluate the situation...there are many variables that need to be considered. First and foremost, in some issues, cheating results because of emotional abandonment by the spouse who has been cheated on. While this doesn't justify the behavior, there needs to be a serious evaluation of the circumstances involved. I do tend to agree with CS, Brad, and Poetmom that the presence or absence of children may make a diff
During the first couple years of my wife's and my marriage, she was not very capable of talking about problems in our marriage. This stemmed from the fact that, when she was growing up, her stepmother would often be controlling and abusive when my wife did choose to speak. I mentioned to her that, if she couldn't speak, perhaps she could write down her thoughts. This helped my wife immensely, and she was able to articulate her feelings without fear of
How great it sounds in theory... I tried the "mystery shopper" route for over a year. Could not get ONE job as a mystery shopper (I even at one time paid for a site that promised results). Honestly, and no offense to you, I would like to see one mystery shopper business that isn't as big a scam as the MLM industry.
hey brad... maybe you can make the suppress feature a little disintegrator pistol (with a Marvin the Martian like icon) zapping a selected icon of said user....hehehe...that'd make it so fun. Seriously, though...the added options make it probable that once we can afford it we'll upgrade. Me likes. Me likes veddy much.
I just thought of something. God said vengence is mine, right? So in those OT verses, God's just using the people to bring out His vengence. So maybe we're supposed to love OUR enemies, those who are enemies for selfish reasons, and when God gives permission and uses us to bring out his wrath he allow it. But then, aren't we made
As we know it's hard to understand how the three are really one, but I believe that the trinity is "guiding" us, as you put it. But, didn't the HS exist in the OT, as well? I'm really thinking He did, although I could be wrong. Look at all the prophesies that came true. Aren't the prophesies the work of the HS? <
The service industry is incredibly demanding and its employees are vastly underappreciated. That being said, you are right. As a customer, you are the reason their job exists. I do agree with you, though, that giving tips isn't a bad idea. The only downside to that is, in the industry even crappy service is expected to be tipped.
Thank you, Brad, for a great summation. Those are many of the reasons I don't consider Bush a good "lesser of two evils" choice. While I personally withhold final judgement on the war in Iraq (acknowledging that the state dept. likely has more accurate information than I do), I have long disliked the fact that Bush has played the "politician" role rather than trying to assert himself as a leader (he has apparently taken a page from Clinton's b
Thanks for posting this, Brad. It's information that does need to be heard. It's also interesting to note that the democratic party also stood against most civil rights legislation and integration laws. And they call Republicans sheep...
How very tolerant of you to portray all Conservatives as bible thumping ignorant rednecks dedicated to limiting everyones freedom! Youre right, and anyone disagreeing with you is not only wrong, but a a facist, uneducated, religious fanatic...take a valium, dude, we're only talking about queers tying the knot here, and watching y
What if the federal government follows Vermont and Mass. lead and by federal statutes gives Civil Unions equal status under the law as marriage. Civil union, two people, no horses or third parties. Civil union, no religion, justice of the peace. Two people in a loving committed relationship that desire to be recognized by law wit
And let's not forget guys, the movie White Chicks is supposed to be humorous. They aren't trying to offend anyone. Umm, it doesn't sound like the comedian is trying to offend anyone either. Don't get me wrong, I don't see the point of the blackface, and don't see how it enhanves one's act...but
wonderful quote...lol
Bill Cosby... one of the few prominant blacks willing to tell the truth. Yes, Cosby is doing a wonderful job...interesting that he gets slammed for it.
Excellent article, shadowwar
Even if my company hadn't made it, I would not be poor today. It's pretty rare to meet someone who is poor and is also working very hard. I don't think it's as rare as you think, Brad. I've met plenty such people, and we ourselves are in that number. We are comfortable with where we're at, don't get me
ok, here's my "frog" story: When I was in college, I dated this one young lady for a few weeks. She wasn't that attractive, but I was (*whispering*) heavily into the Cure at the time (I'm so ashamed), and she was the stereotypical groupie. Anyway, after she dumped me (interestingly enough for a polygamous Indian guy with whom she had an on again, off again romance), I found out that there was a large group of guys she'd done the same
