These random events are one of the most annoying features in this game. Why do good choices always have bad consequences? Why is evil always rewarded? Life doesn't work like that. To be as controversial as possible, I will give some examples from the previous century. Herr Hitler, we have found Jews in Germany. Comrade Stalin, the farmers do not want to form Collectives. Chairman Mao, the people are wanting more economic freedom. I would argue that each leader went with option 3 but in each case

I think that the morale problem is that after 4 years, 30% of your population are babies, who are always crying and another 20% are in their 'terrible twos' making everyone around them unhappy. And they are way too young to take part in organized zero gravity sporting events. Plus the average family has hundreds of children; who could be happy in those conditions? Sorry, that is a whinge about the arcade style population growth and turn length model us
My main reason for wanting to be able to set tax rates for individual planets is to allow me to 'manage' morale and overall productivity. I have all these big heavily industrialized planets with morale in the 40s plus all these small planets with 80+ morale. My overall morale is in the low 60's and my net income is - just, normally - positive. So I can't ratchet up my overall productivity without going bankrupt because I can't raise taxes because some
Back in the days when 3.5" floppies were cutting edge, 40 Megs was a big hard drive and 16 MHz was a fast computer, Microprose delivered three TBS games (directly or through contracted developers): Civ, MOO & MoM. I am pretty sure that no one is debating whether the Civ brand name has value. Before MOO3, the MOO name had significant market value. The MoM franchise however has been dormant for over a decade and it is very reasonable for Stardock to wonder whether it still has value (I believe it
I am on the same page as Tarvok and qb; I want the same MoM but more of it, especially bigger maps with more nodes, lairs and opponents. MoM was close to perfect, one just ran out of interesting things to do before the end of the game (given the time taken to research and cast the Spell of Mastery)and the AI was not up to really challenging one once one's empire was fully established and stocked with champions. Better graphics are a given (though in my opinion, not a necessity). A Civ3 type edit
