Okay, it's late here and I might be suffering from early-onset senile dementia, but I just looked over my site ( misterme.wincustomize.com ) through the Impulse interface and couldn't find the blog articles I wrote a few years back. All I could see were the articles like this (questions I posed or comments on others' questions, all of whic

Well, it looks like there are quite a few writers on here offering their services. Time permitting, I'll put my name in that hat as well. I wrote quite a few tutorials on different programs at my last job. I just don't have the patience for most graphics programs, which gets in the way of my skinning. :NOTSURE: But if anyone needs, as Zoomba says, someone to put it in a format for mass consumption, I'll certainly do what I can. Of course, I don't IRC or IM, so it wou
This might fall under the header of "New Features/Wishlist", but it goes to how I utilize the site (and how I imagine many other casual users sue it as well): We need a Personal Favorites page (like a My Yahoo-type page), where we can define what new skins or themes are shown (by type, date, popularity, etc), along with any new articles posted in the past (however many) days. I would also like that page to not be naviagted away from (have any link clicked form it open in a new tab). I k
I'll follow up on that last bit there Deamhan. Thanks for the info!
Ever find an answer to this? I'm having the same issue...
What's bizarre is all the negative comments on this story at GameSpot. It seems a lot of people (primarily gamers, since that's their core audience on that site) are crying foul that this will cause brain cancer, debilitating headaches, or have other monstrous side-effects. I suppose anything's possible, but it's not like Emotiv is releasing a DNI (Direct Neural Interface, plugs physically directly into the brain to send and receive signals) or anything that would permenantly alter brain chemist
Here's a little something I ran into trying to install and play Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II. The game installed fine, but would not run the executable. After digging around online, I found someone else who'd had the same problem, and that they'd gotten the game to load by disabling the sound in the game. I thought that was weird, but tried it and it worked. Of course, a game without sound kinda sucks. So I kept digging and found that the issue stems from the way the game m
I'm sure a lot of people have already figured this out, but for those of you who haven't: Rather than running your apps maximized to full-screen, simply drag the edges to the top, bottom and sides of the screen. It gives you as much workspace, but leaves the glass effect intact. That way, if you're running a subtle .dream like the multi-colored gassy one ("Exotic Plasma" I think it is), there is a very nice, pleasing (calming for me), subtle effect that takes places beneath the glass on
With so much interest in so little time, it's pretty apparent that animated wallpaper is here to stay. It's been on the skinners' 'wish-list' for eons .... I'll echo that. I remember the days of trying to use a giant animated .gif on the Active Desktop
So I'm reading above that the Vista desktop is a full 3D surface. That brings up a couple of questions: 1. Is it possible (and maybe an eventual feature of DesktopX on Vista) to create objects and environments in full 3D, rendered by the WDM, that can interact both with triggers and with user input? I can see some phenomenal possibilities if the whole desktop is an intercative 3D area capable of reacting to conditions and user actions. It would simplify the things that some authors have
Neverwinter Nights 2 seems to work just fine in Vista, as does World of Warcraft (and the expansion, The Burning Crusade ). Of course, these progrmas seem to work just fine, but there could be compatibility issues with video drivers that would halt either of them, and any game, dead in its tracks. I run an ATI X1950, which didn't give me any problem once I'd uninstalled the XP driver and installed ATI's beta Vista driver. But I had to do that all manually; Vista woul
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, SiahJ-owns, but this is from an article by Brad Wardell: A New Style for Windows Vista: Code-Name StyleVista Windows Vista is pretty polished. But it could be polished further. Enter StyleVista. This new program will let users alter the little touches that Microsoft has in Windows Vista that don't quite fit into skinning but also are just beyond what is included. Want a different blur effect? Want to
Maybe I'm missing something, but neither of those links seem to explain anything about "Vista Style Pro", or even mention it for that matter...
Has anybody been able to actually download this? I've had Windows Vista Ultimate for a while now, and I don't see this Ultimate Extra anywhere. I've seen several references to it being available "at a later date", both at Microsoft and in some of the articles Brad has written. Your guess is as good as mine as to what "at a later date" actually m
I'll agree that I can be pretty arrogant. In fact, it's a trademark of mine. And I would definitely consider myself a liberal. But I think the ultimate in arrogance is assuming that not only is your position the only correct one, but that other people shouldn't even legally be allowed to disagree. That sort of arrogance is rampant in Republican circles. The Republican party is the only one I've ever seen that takes pride in its intent to legis
It's been a few months since my last blog entry...I think July. It's amazing the kind of distractions that can pull a man away from the things he thinks are important. Let's see. My wife and I moved into our new house, after last minute problems with the loan (termed such out of courtesy for the younger readers, as "financial raping" would perhaps require the
Secondly, my article only points out that those who pay little or no taxes overwhelmingly support Democrats. The question is, why? I don't think there is a deep reason. It boils down to the fact that rich people generally support Republicans. If the poor, as a group, witness the rich supporting a party
Stop already with the mind-bending and WRITE. Write what? Bending my mind is what I do best. Bending other people's minds is what I do second best. Balancing a spoon head-down on the fingernail of my left ring finger is what I do thrid best. In the interest of not making this an Adult-Content post, I'll
misterME, welcome to JU. However, I’m somewhat amazed that you style yourself as a student of writing, even though in reading your initial blog I assessed it as excellent in terms of internal rambling, which is better thought of as the stream of consciousness. I don't purport to be an expert at writing,
So I’m sitting outside on my balcony, as I’ve discussed before, wading about inside my brain trying to make sense of the mess of thoughts floating in there like so much refuse. And one of these thoughts concerns this blog: If it’s to serve as a journal for me—which was, after all, its purpose—what should I write about next? And it occurs to me that that’s a very stupi
Perhaps you'd like to share your tax return then as I suspect you got most of that back as a refund. No, I didn't. I got less than 1/4 of what I paid out during the year back. And yes, I am just talking about Federal taxes, not total withholdings. By the way, I'm not accusing you of suggesting
I would have to agree that a "flat fee" does little to equalize the situation. Then again, does it necessarily have to be equalized? The goal of government should not be to equally distribute the wealth among its citizens (at least, not a Capitalist government). It is fair to say, however, that historically the Republican party has favored the rich, which in turn causes the rich to favor that party. At some point, and for reasons I won'
You lost 40lbs on Atkins?! And you didn't even read the book properly? Wow, that's great! Well, I don't consider it a diet. If I did, I never would have been successful on it. It was more a lifestyle change--I started drinking Crystal Lite and diet soda instead of Tropicana Twister and 3 to 4 Mt. Dews
I've been blogging here for 5 months. It's addictive. It's the responses that get you, I think. You're able to have virtual conversations with people from all walks of life and all kinds of geographical locations.....it's really very cool. Keep blogging, I'll keep reading. Thank you.
Now see, here's where I have to wonder about sincerity and the deceptive nature of DoubleSpeak: After pointing out my inclination for failing to keep up with such things as this, I say, "...but I'll be more likely to write out of pure spite if someone jumps up and tells me to 'go to hell' ". Having made that point, how can one discern the ratio of sincerity to sardonicism in the first statement written in response: <TAB
There is no Southern Baptist church capable of holding 5000 people that would be attended by rednecks. Adrian Roger's Bellevue Baptist Church can hold that many, but its patrons are predominantly middle- and upper-class hypocrits, not rednecks. And kids wanting to use the vast sports and recreation facilities. <B
