That's really sweet. Thanks. I try not to post all my day-to-day stuff because I don't want to get called on how boring it is and how unneccessary it is to post it. Ummm...whoever said it was boring? I don't think it's boring. I think that the stuff you write about is cute, and generally downright hilarious. You have a gift, B. Whoever gave you crap once about being a Mommy-blogger should be drug out into the street and sho

Do you glue/velcro a bow to her head? My aunt used to do that because her daughter was bald and everyone thought she was a little boy. She GLUED a bow onto her head? How do you get that off? I would think that gender-colored clothing would do the trick.

m not eloquent like most of you and I don't have a fancy job or an exciting social life, but I have all kinds of thoughts (probably not of interest or value to JUs) I think that kind of crap talk needs to stop RIGHT NOW young lady. I know *I* for one have been missing the amount that you write.

Gid...we should have "done lunch" when you were in Pahrump. This is the gameplan for right now...I'm going to apply for the in-district positions and we're going to try to stay here. We're going to see how far our association thinks we should take this fighting for Ry's job thing. Ry's pretty sick of the crap, and there's LOTS of other work he can do, so he doesn't know how far

I agree wholeheartedly. But I'm guilty as well. I am a Christian but I lived in the same house with my husband before we got married (separate bedrooms, mind you, but how many Christians actually do that?). I'm a Christian but I swear like a sailor. I'm a Christian but I was so upset on Thursday I was cussing at my boss using words most sailors don't. You know? I'm a hypocrite. I haven't been to church since Christmas. And I n

And we switched to a money market savings...they want you to have a minimum balance of like $5000 but if you transfer at least $75 in a month they don't charge you the fee. And we do that...so we made $.06 this month. Whoooeee! lol

Gid... We should save some savings out of the CD for emergencies though...right? So we don't have to pull the CD and pay a penalty? (Sorry...I'm exceedingly stupid when it comes to money...obviously...hence all the debt). Since I'm in graduate school, I'm qualifying for student loans. I'm taking all the subsidized federal student loans I can, and taking the extra and paying off the high-interest debt we have. That makes sense, right?

Hey Brad.. When we went home to Minnesota for Christmas, Ryan and I went to talk to the financial planner at our bank about starting an IRA or SOME sort of thing for our retirement. We have lots of debt, which we are slowly but SURELY paying off (one of the medicall bills AND the wedding gets paid off this month. Yippee!). He said we shouldn't even think about starting an IRA until we have like 3 months of income into a savings account, whi

I agree that many "Christians" use that phrase as a license to live their lives in a way that is not pleasing to anyone but themselves. And I don't think that's okay. I think lots of Christians are so focused on the horizontal relationships they forget about the vertical relationship that makes them a damned Christian in the first place. What about God. I hadn't prayed in eons until I started going to Bible study about three weeks ago. It's made s

Simon~ Thank you for sharing your story. As an educator, I don't think we ever really get the FULL story from a child who was bullied, and sometimes I don't think we really believe that it can be "that bad," you know? Your story made me realize that it is "that bad" and that I do need to take it seriously. I wish that your head teacher would have taken you seriously. She should have. No child deserves to be treated the way you wer

Bribery or positive reinforcement, ziggy? You can perceive it multiple ways. I know you guys are going through a lot right now, so I'll avoid piling on, but please don't disregard everything LW is saying just because you don't happen to like the messenger. You're right, Gid...and I know you're not addressing me, here, so I apologize if I'm sticking my nose where it doesn't belong. Where do you draw the line between bribery and positive reinforc

You're right, they're wrong, all the advice you were given was bad, and everyone's against your superior knowledge, more finely tuned common sense, and vast experience. lol...the advice he was given was good advice from good teachers. And he took it and he used it, but our administrator didn't WANT him to use it. Does that make sense to you? It doesn't to me, especially since our administrator told him to go to specific teachers and get advice from th

Oh...lol...and Ryan implemented the advice of the other, more seasoned teachers that he sought out. And he sought out a BUNCH of them. But when he met with our administrator and discussed with him what he'd been implementing, he was told that it was WRONG. Wonderful.

I believe that you're trying to be helpful Sabrina, and know that I appreciate that. Know that we're not posting everything that's going on here for legal reasons. And while I know that you're trying to be helpful, I also believe that there is no way, because of your previous interactions with my husband, that you could see this, or him, objectively. I suppose I don't really see Ryan's situation objectively either as I'm in the mid

I've had lots of trouble in my short teaching career, too. My contract wasn't renewed last year because of the same issues Ryan's facing. I felt I was doing an okay job--I had some struggling students, and I felt I turned everywhere I could--colleagues, the district literacy specialist, and EVERYONE I turned to said I was making improvements, and my principal said I sucked. Yet, the other two principals I've worked for say I'm okay. Why *is* that?

I received a summons in Clark County, Nevada, MONTHS after we had moved to Minnesota, so we had to send them a ridiculous amount of verification that we weren't citizens of Las Vegas any longer. They didnt' accept my first verification so I had to send more. Like I was going to go 2000 miles to serve jury duty. Pffffft. I've always wanted to do it though...just to see what it was like...
