Exactly.... what happens... in my beta experience I tried to stay where I selected by monitoring the alignment screen. But if nothing bad happens... hehehehehe whats a little evil or good for that matter gonna hurt if no one else knows... thats not a dinner guest so to speak. W/R Suralle

STOP THE GATHERING OF NUTS! (mutter) ----> WHACK (performs field calibration of the universal translator) hehehe whoops... er ah, I got an idea. We all know that random events happen from the UP council, this race pays this, these folks have to pay for colonies or starbases.... What about them other events though... galatic prison, influence center... oooo 'nother idea! 1) Next screen from ?winning? a UP event such as galactic pri

If you stray from your chosen alignment after xeno ethics have been researched and paid for what happens? Anything? Do the advantages such as the defensive and offensive tools get recalculated? W/R Suralle

My laptop is an 1.4Ghz Pentium-M with 512Mb of RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 for video, and onboard sound. Laptopm wise the beta runs fine on mine (gold version appears to have a much smaller footprint, so I hope that it will run even better)...with a similar setup (See specs for non-enhanced Dell Latitude 600) although anti-aliasing is set au

I couldn't do it, I tried about a week ago to go back and play GC1... no dice I kept comparing it to the beta (no contest, beta even with CTD was much more fun to be in). SO I have removed the beta from my desktop (although I left it on the laptop, just in case I have to go on travel somewhere and the connection when I get there is only a 28K dialup (pokes fun at the person in another post). Anywho, I shifted back to playing 1503 AD and Pirate Hunter. Although they are barely suffic

The nearest thing I can think of to a mine that is easily addable would be a super-cheap 1-HP hull with just enough space for a single weapon. Damn that makes sense in a sadistic sort of way. Put yer biggest weapon on the hull, outfit it with a couple of sensors maybe a basic or general life support and a decent drive and you have a one shot m

If it was going to state a race that the Pryde follows sci-fi wise it would have to be the Kilrathi (-2 spelling) from Wing Commander... just wish I knew more about their ship classes and names could change the names a bit from earth based names to theirs. W/R Suralle Straykat Kat Lord @ Large

For our purposes in GalCiv2 the UP plays a scaled down role, however, with the new AI I have to wonder if all the little bugs have been fixed such as the tendancy of a race to vote against itself for the levy of fines, or the giving away of Wisp as a new planet after it has been colonized for the duration of the game by the Altarian. With Frogboy looking hard at the AI will the computer characters actually start using and buying influence votes to "sway" the vote of the counsel for ex

Actually, they were very fast on answering the phone, unlike alot of other companies I deal with on a regular basis. So maybe reacing out and touching them at the toll free number is better. Can be found at stardock.com W/R Suralle

Most if not all of what I did not like in the beta seems to have been addressed or has been taken into consideration someplace else (done or not going to be done). Actually its hard to say, everything from what I have read is either improved or much different in gold than beta. I will get back to you on this one. W/R Suralle

Perhaps they just landed on earth and left their biogical waste behind or someone dropped a hamburger or french fry (something incredibly simple) that started to decompose and due to the nature of earths atmosphere was just enough to start the first microbe bacteria... Which basically is long for saying that maybe we are the garbage or left overs that got dropped over the side, no wonder the other races who have been around longer really hate us. We have an inferiority complex that d

Lets see, I quit smoking on August 1, 2005 after 25 years. At work everyone takes a smoke break about every 1.5 hours. I do not, so thats at least 6 times a day I come here and make insightful or insane comments based on how you view me. I get home, take care of any emergencies my wife has for me. Walk the dog, pick up Bella Rose (the latest rescue kitty who adopted me) and pet her until she whines that its time for me to put her over at the food bowl. She picked up a really bad

I don't do tiny, therefore I have no names for tiny class. small class - (heavy fighters) Bobcat or Ocelot (with respective Mk 1, Mk 1.5...) medium class - (corvettes and frigates) Lynx or Puma, not to mention my personal favorite StrayKat! large class - (cruisers, destroyers) Panther or Leopard huge class - (battleships, ship-of-line) Tiger or Lion Never thought about naming personal ships, but I have been adopted by a number of kittys in my life. Thanks

I still fall back on the ship design should be about yourself and weapons and defense should be more about the race your trying to take over the known galaxy with. GalCiv 2 already has one moving in the direction of "good" civilizations should be more defensive "evil" more offensive (Yes them Drengin do stink to high heaven!) I rarely research beam weaponry though, no matter which race I am working with, somewhere in the back of my mind is the wow factor look at the size of that busb

Now unto ship design. For some dog-eared reason I keep pointing the weapons in a forward facing direction yet use the free-cam to watch the battle scenerios. I have even caught myself placing weapons that could only be fired if I was (in reality) I was pointing my entire ship in the exact direction the opponent is in. Personally I am thinking this is a poor design on my part, no matter how cool it looks when your checking out the final product before adding it to the list of ships f
