Hahah, that was from LW.

YES. YES. 1000 times YES. Welcome back, Special One! (kiss kiss kiss.)
Why dont you just kill the bastard and do the world a favor? :) (cast0r bean seeds work well, im told.)
Creation myths... aren't they wonderful? And they all say exactly the same thing: out of the void, something came. And all the rest is minor detail and embellishment that says far more about the people creating the myth than it says about the origins of the world. Myself I prefer Lovecraft's take on things: we know just enough to appreciate our condition, but never enough to do anything about it. So we tell stories instead, and then kill each other over which story is the correct one.<b
Hm. Babyback ribs, anyone? Only real babies used.
I like kids. Especially when sliced thinly and lightly fried in good olive oil. And since I can now log in as myself I might be tempted to write something this weekend. Pretty pictures, Tex. Your child obviously has a career in comedy ahead of her.
I hope that explained it, I'm not very good at explaining stuff like this. Sorry.
That's a reasonable description of the sensation you experience. I've known Muslims and others recount their experience of spiritual guidance in the same way. So, if a Muslim has your type of experience what differentiates the two? I'm still lead by the spirit I encountered when I believed I was a Christian. Now, I'm an apostate, a heretic, and on some counts a godless heathen. What
YEE-fucking-HAAAAAAAAA!!! as they say here.
That's the good news - I have a job. However, it's perfectly possible that I could turn up on site at 8.00am to start work only to be told that no one knows anything about me, no job of the kind described in the contract exists, and if it did, and if I were supposed to be working it, they'd fire me anyway. That sort of thing does actually happen. Not, so far, to me - but to people I have known. The joys and satisfactions of working as an independent contractor. But supposing a
Bearing your warning about antagonistic responses in mind I shall try to make myself clear. My question isn't meant to be a challenge to your faith, nor a criticism of it. But the experience is fresh in your mind, so perhaps you might have something to say. You mention 'rightness'. And it occurred to me to wonder, as it usually does when the sensation of knowing one is right is discussed, whether the person experiencing that sensation had ever considered that persons holding entirely d

Hahah, above comment from LW. (not that simon hates ya or anything, lol.)
Dunno what sort of windows your house has, but thermals pay for themselves in five to seven years, (on average.) If you already have thermal windows and they show condensation between the panes that means the seal is broken and they've lost their insulating ability, have them repaired or replaced. Central air and heat is great, but you might save some money by closing the vents and doors in the bedrooms during the day, heating only the common areas where you're spending the mo
I can see that this is not going to be an article that attracts many comments. Why is that? It deals in issues that are of absolute relevance to us all. We all die. Many of us are subject to the temptatation to kill - and many of us succumb to that temptation. Yet without understanding what character is, none of us can make sense of why we kil, or why we do not kill. There are only two questions: how are we to live? And how are we to die? How we answer them is what defines us as human
Science, by which I mean that episteme which states that the rational method is the sole arbiter of truth, denies Death. It denies to Death that supremacy which has been accorded to It by every previous culture in human existence. Rather than viewing Death as an ineluctable Power that cannot be defeated, it views Death as an equal adversary with which it is in contention. Medical Science wiews Death as an enemy that can be defeated. First, aging must be deferred indefinitely. Secondly, t
1. Broken glass in the yard (there was none, and the CPS worker checked pretty thoroughly).
My gawd, the garbage in that front 'storage room' was shoulder deep, the trash and junk piled against the house was hip-deep, years worth of filth coated every surface inside the house (from the cabinet fronts to the floors to the bathtub (gag) to the walls and ceilings, the entire place was infested with RATS, Tim...but there was no broken glass, hmm? Sorry thos
I wonder. If you're unafraid to die are you just as unafraid to kill? That's certainly the implication of the clip. Our bowl-headed friend was unafraid of either eventuality. Neither was he defined by either possibility. I wonder too if it's actually possible to find such a place of harmonious balance, and if it is what wonderful and terrible things might not be done.
To: RoyLevosh It is a coin. And he did win everything. But he was a little man, and didn't know what it was he had won, and nearly lost. And the fellow with the bad hair knew what was at stake but was free not to be interested. A very old fellow, with no country.
catoblasta: further thoughts on this theme can be found at the article linked above.
Comment from LW:
I have stated over and over again I had no problem with LW's original article
Then what exactly do you take issue with? Other than the wife driving/internet access in the home, you've denied not a single allegation made there, insisting there is 'more to the story.' Well, let's hear it then.
I have a problem with the lynch mentality that resulted, which took every bit of rumour as gospel truth. [/
All my successes, those things I regard as highpoints in my existence to date, have been metaphysical in nature. As cactoblasta points out in his response on the linked article, the truly traumatic events of my existence (being stoned through the streets as a child, emotional and physical abandonment, the decades during which I withdrew further and further from the world) occurred in my childhood and youth. And the successes that I have had, my eventual return to the world, the completion of
Anyone who doesn't periodically reflect on his or her life is not a particularly successful human being, in my-not-remotely-humble opinion. As I said, turning first 30 and then forty caused me only minor reflection, and even a faint sense of self-congratulation at having so easily escaped the supposedly unavoidable traumas associated with these chronological milestones.
I don't like what has happened to JU. I think I've made that abundantly plain. But I do like the community. Therefore I have nothing further to say concerning my disappointment in JU2. No doubt I'll get over it. One thing only I will suggest - that the number of possible blog categories be reduced to three: thought, life, blogging. Anything else is over-provision. I am 48 years old. I feel that I am sixteen. Both my chronological age and my existential estimation of my age are facts o
Look I know the entire article is unreasonable. There are four puppies in my life that I can kick: my wife, the two dogs, or JU2 as I suppose it will inevitably be known. So I spent a little time kicking at JU - it was fun, and you deserve it. However, being unreasonable doesn't mean I'm wrong - just unreasonable. But when have I been anything else?
So. I admit that when I wrote this I was pissed at rather more than JU. I also admit that some of the changes are helpful . That doesn't mean I like it, approve of it, or think of it as a success. I don't. Neither am I interested in the opinions of moderators. You suck the dick of our local God because he pays your wages. Nothing you have to say has any validity beyond that fact. If you must make a whore of yourself in public do it where I can't see you. Nothing
