ok one other aside here, because of the nature of the thread, when I dl'd the smiley zip, I right clicked and then clicked "open" when the dl dialogue came up.(I don't normally reccomend this but in this case it seems to be the best way ) once it dl'd, the zip file folder was visible (with it's contents.) I am using XP and so all I had to do was click the extract to button and extract it to c:\program files\stardock\object desktop\desktopx\themes. by extracting to that address it automa
ok also note: if you right click on the dx icon in the systray, then click "configure desktopx", and click "load theme" when the theme manager comes up, if you scroll down you will see the smiley theme, click on it and it will install. Also still, part of the theme is a rainlender, and dxplayer, you have to have those programs installed for the whole theme to be visible. but at the very least part of the theme will be useable once you follow the above directions. wishing you the best of
here's some information from the comments section on that theme, which btw I am also getting the same results with this theme. The missing wallpaper is a known bug for DX 2.1 A way around it is to reload the theme and the wallpaper will then appear. Stardock is aware of this bug and is working on it. For the taskabr, go to the DesktopX properties (right-click on the desktop and choose properties) and uncheck "Hide explorer taskbar". It will ask you to restart DX and then i

it's not unlike the "who's your favorite sports team?" debate. everyone wants to support their colors. mac people feel the need to tell all and sundry how wonderful they believe their machines are, and there are pc people who will do the exact same. though I was actually looking forward to those "goodies" mentioned, I have to say I would have purchased subscription anyway, and plan to renew when mine expires in two years. ya'll are right, the subscription shows support of the site and the artists who post to the site. I just wish a small part of our subscription went back to the artists too. of course if you sat down and figured out how many artists there are, and tried to even give them a penny for each subscription, they'd have to up

poulanZ, are you using the wincustomize browser? or is this happening on the actual website (using a browser like mozilla,netscape,or interenet explorer)? I have trouble posting comments if I use the wc browser(dunno why) but no trouble if I am posting from IE.
$heriff are you double clicking(like if you were clicking on an icon on the desktop?).. that might make it a constant double post...for a weblink you should only have to click once (press down the button and release )
first of all, I wasn't attacking you(though you have jumped right in and attacked me.) second of all, wc is affiliated with stardock. and third of all, it is fine to debate, but it is in poor taste to trash another's work where that work is posted, and call it a debate. and as an end thought, yes skinning is promoted here and is the whole point of the site, that doesn't however give you the right to make derogatory comments about the software that is posted here.
why do I get the feeling you registered at this site for the express purpose of promoting your software?
I believe you can send a check through the mail. and tell your parents that there is a telephone # for stardock where the sales dept could answer their questions about the product. it's worth it, and if you are a student and in graphic design classes the program can be an asset to your studies. always a refreshing extra credit project to make a windowblind.

download the bootskin program, there's a link for it at the top of the bootskin library page. once you've installed that program you should be able to use bootskins you've dl'd from the library bootskin is a seperate program from windowblinds.
I noticed that wb skins DrOPped off each time there was a new program added to the libraries to skin. between dx, od,bootskin and logonstudio not to mention cursorxp, there have been many times the skinning community put aside wb for a while to play with the new toys. but if you watch carefully, once the newness wears off , the wb library increases again. more people are interested in skinning now, because of more publicity letting people know it's possible, but the number of skin designers
looks to me like people just expressing their beliefs and disbeliefs, no one's lashed out for any reason except to complain they don't want to read it... easy solution there... dont click on on the link again...
