Shogun, I believe you should read this thread a little closer. He's trying to figure out how to make the picture appear in the Civilization Manager->Stats and Graphs window, not just put in some random custom image. Also, he already has DesktopX

I was under the impression that unless you use the Impossible setting or similar, the AI doesn't cheat at all, and on the easier difficulty settings the AI gets some high spending penalties. As to the colony bit, are you sure the AI *has* to have lower max range on their colony ships? Maybe he just has better life support tech, or more life support on his colony ships? For the purchasing ships bit, maybe the AI simply has a better economy than you?

I *really* hope they fix the social bonus not working part some day soon. It completely destroyed my 'kick ass construction' civ idea, and forces me to just buy all my factories and everything on new colonies because if I were to wait it would take 100-some turns to build a single factory:/ Makes colonizing in the late game and taking over enemy planets a lot less worth it.

From what I can tell, altering the customization points does *not* work. EDIT: And by that, I mean it's completely ignored by the program, and so you can't mod the customization points, even if you do delete the 'current custom race' file. I may be wrong, though:/

I had the same exact problem as Sean London, again due to it being 16 bit on the desktop. This seems very strange to me, as I always set my desktop resolution to 32 bit. I did notice an odd degredation in color quality a while back while I was trying the beta out - is it possible the beta changed my desktop color res to 16 bit? Sounds a bit far-fetched, but who knows why that'd happen...

While it certainly does feel, in some ways, like stealing, I'm a cheap enough man to just smile and enjoy my good fortune. Sure, I may not get a nice little manual or box or CD, but I DO get the game without having to pay anything extra for it. Hell, I honestly didn't even know I GOT GCII until late last month when I decided to open up my Stardock Central and see if the original had any updates to it. I'll tell ya, that was a bit of a surprise of good fortune. I mean, I'm not complain

Ahah! After doing some checking around, the California server is working fine, even with the .sdc file downloaded from the (much faster) Chicago server. Probably means the .xml file on the Chicago server is borked or something. The media pack, on the other hand, doesn't work at all. I tried downloading it from the Cali server, and got an error message (url not found), and then on the Chicago server. No error message that time, but it also didn't actually do anything.

If you can update, good for you. I tried to earlier today, and instead of updating it it 'uninstalled' it from the registry after an error occured in the updating process. Since the version I had has bugs up the wazoo, so much so I can't actually play through a full game, I uninstalled the game first before trying to reinstall it with the update and - bam! An error occured having to do with a thumbs.db_ file missing from the gfx/explosions folder from the install package. Considering they haven'
