Always fun to take a walk down memory lane. One of the reasons I watch the movie Roller Coaster is that the coaster they blow up is where I grew up, and the park most of the scenes are filmed in is one I worked in 3 years. Other than that, the movie really sucks. But I can see a couple of you have some "fond" memories of H-L!
Would holding your breath help? ;) I am not as religious as you about the BP - I just have it taken every 8 weeks when I give blood. So I get a longer average and it does stay down. Remember the old Lawrence Welk Commercials for Geritol? Yea, we laughed at them until they became us!

Sucks if I want to buy insurance, but otherwise my BP is what it was 30 years ago. fortunately mine is a very mild pill (a diuretic).
No doubt in my mind that they are the modern version of the stupid, clueless, and totally useless hippy.
A very well written comment (the whole thing). And I will not argue your conclusion. As I said to BFD, perhaps it is just nostalgia that made me see some redeeming qualities of the hippies of the 60/70s.
I guess I was running up against a different tribe of hippies, Doc. I never found any redeeming qualities to them at all.
I guess it was just waxing nostalgic. Instead of redeeming, perhaps I should have said "less offensive". The point I apparently missed, but was trying to make was that while the OWS is trying to portray themselves as the hippies of the 21st century, they miss on so many counts - their ant

A lot of the music is now a late night commercial. But still, those musicals still move me. I was never a hippy (my sister was). And for the most part, I had nothing to do with them. They were not all peaches and cream. Yet, they were PRODUCTIVE. And for the most part, they were reverent. OWS is none of those. They are the leeches of society. They produce nothing, they merely consume and destroy. The contrast between OWS and Hipppies is

Occupy is starting up its antics again, and I felt it would be a good time to take a closer look at them. They claim to represent the "99%", but a vast majority (not even just right wing Hillary) of the "99%" want nothing to do with them. They also claim to be the new Hippies. But I have not found too many old hippies that want anything to do with them either. Why? Taking a trip down memory lane, the hippies of the 60s and 70s were a fearful bunch. Many

Round abouts - Yes. That is what I always called them as well. But then I went to New jersey and they only called them Traffic circles. I think we might have 2 in the whole area here. And because there are so few, no one knows what to do with them. SO I avoid them like the plague!

"Good" kind of cancer? ;) I may one of the lucky ones. Spent my youth at the beach and go there when I can. I hate sun screen. So far so good (watch me get some now). I did manage to develop psoriasis after my cruise 2 years ago. But that is just ugly, not dangerous ;)

Gopher Killer! [e digicons][/e] I am softer than you. I would have let it go. Even knowing what it did to the yard. We have voles and moles. Or did. With the exception of an occasional squirrel, that is the only thing our cats do catch. And I just pick up the carcasses and toss them. They are not moving when I get to them.

71 I was in Presidio. Being a brat and not in the army, I did not see the situation you describe. INdeed, Presidio seemed to be more of a resort post than a real army post. But yes, I know the Mickens of the world. You show them you care and support them, and you will never want for a better ally. I am a Ali fan myself. Unlike the other dodgers, he never ran. He did his time. And I respect him for that. It cost him a lot. But he wa

You would be right if the consumer was the true customer of the media. At one time, it was - when it had to survive on its own. However, now its customers are those who it preaches to. They are the ones that must be satisfied, and they really do not care about the average citizen. I often call them the literate illiterati. The ones that do not know squat, but think they know it all.

Sorry I have been remiss with my reading as well. Life just caught up to me and I lacked the time to write or read blogs. I agree with you about the JU format change, but as Brad has said - you can't gripe about free ice cream. So I am not leaving as there are still a core here (like you and Mason) that I enjoy reading and will follow all the time. I guess I missed some of the theatrics. Occupational hazard with being away. I hope your nose becomes

Those who think the constitution is old do so out of ignorance. The Constitution is still unique in the world. Why? It is the only bottom up document. Other constitutions tell people what they can and cannot do. But ours is genius in its simplicity. It merely tells the government what it cannot do (since bastardized by morons that fail to understand the "positiveness' of the document. The article says a lot about Buzzy. It says she is not
