They probably figure if EA can get away with it, so can they. Unfortunately, they seem to have forgotten that nobody likes EA either.
EA has done it with one game, and hasn't stated any plans to do it in the future. I find it extremely unlikely that they will. With Ubisoft I wouldn't be surprised to see several more games do it.
Like it said, I downloaded the game from impulse. I did not pirate the game, not very helpful to automatically assume that. I have already tried redownloading it earlier but I will try again after deleting it from the .impulsereactor.
He didn't suggest piracy, he suggested copying AFTER buying the game. Impulse doesn't really handle that very well. :p

Well, wasn't referring to the CPU fan actually. There can be controls to automatically slow down the other fans which keep cool air in the case. That can make your vidcard or other components overheat from not getting enough cool air. Dust accumulation inside the system/CPU/vidcardfan/power supply can do the same, if you've got a canned air duster handy they can help a lot. Switching to an NVidia card might help, but not because its an NVidia card...just be
It is as if Ubisoft it setting themselves up for failure so that they can said "Well we tried to the PC market but the teaming masses of souless pirates stole any incentive for us to make anymore PC games. We are now a console exclusive publisher no more PC games". Either that or Ubi's management is truely that stupid.
5 years of bad choices. I'm not unwilling to believe they could improve, b
Agreed. The best way to get people to buy your product is to make your product be worth what people would pay to buy it.
I found it most ironic that Ubisoft decided to raise their prices for PC games while screwing PC gamers all in one go. It's like saying, honest buyers? Piss off.

The user friendly approach Stardock is taking is a lot more likely to get Stardock noticed right now than anything else they can do against Steamworks. In an industry that's constantly being criticized for user unfriendliness, it's a stark contrast and people will notice. Sure, they could do the lock in thing that Steam is doing, but then publishers, developers, and users would've said 'meh' and thought of Impulse as just another Steam wannabe. It may not only help
Actually there were quite a few missions in the older CnC games where you didnt build bases. Same for the dune series. I thought they did a great job giving a little of everything for everyone.. They should have just incorporated a different multiplayer mode to go with the base building mode.
Look the problem with C&C doesn't even start with the current game, or the last game. Even though I've

To me, the best CaC games are still Tiberian Sun Firestorm (now released as freeware ) and Red Alert 2 Yuris Revenge.
Actually, I almost agree with you. I thought Generals was the best [e digicons][/e] It's the only C&C game I've ever really loved.
Well there were what, 92 banks that went down, some very large ones actually. More than a handful of retailers. Several developers have closed shop. Blockbuster and Palm are likely out the door. There is a elephant's graveyard of software developers that bite the dust EVERY year. Borders is teetering too. Monte Cristo isn't looking so great either. The point is, which you seem unwilling to accept, is no matter how big a company is, no matter
Honestly, EA hasn't produced a good RTS since Red Alert 2, back when C&C still said "Westwood" on it. They've been plagued by high turnover and short production cycles over the past few years, and the quality has been unraveling. This time around, most of the developers anticipated pink slips when it was over, and that kind of blow to morale is a killer. All things considered, it's no surprise how C&C4 turned out. [/q

The multiplayer does seem like a spectacularly amazing waste of time. I don't hate the single player though. Better than Dawn of War 2.
That's not publicity mate...thats a jail term and the dissolving of your assets, thereby nullifying your point...however, I am open to further examples if you have them?
Actually it's exactly my point. It'd make news. Therefore it'd be publicity, whether you went to jail and such or not.

I know this doesn't qualify under 'important stuff' but I just noticed how many types of files you can use for screenshots. It didn't include Jpeg XR, which albeit new and therefore probably harder to implement seems like it would be a lot more relevant than some of those formats. Just my thoughts on the matter. I've been pretty disappointed by the lack of uptake of that standard so far.

But I need a keyboard for my console before I'd ever abandon the PC; just typing my name in 360 games is annoying. Imagine editing an XML file...
