I can comment here, but I can't comment through the JU homepage, that's strange. I'm sure it has something to do with the changes my status has gone through due to violations of the TOU (no biggie, at any rate). I've enjoyed reading this discussion quite a bit. After reading Karen's remarks, it made me think that if I had to pick any system of belief to follow, it would probably be Taoism. Lao Tsu seems to understand things better even that

p.s. and as I mentioned on that other thread, some of the greatest thinkers ever (including many of the founders of this country) were deists of some form or another, which puts you in pretty good company

Hey, I'm glad that little article and discussion interested you so much! Although "deism" is sort of an anachronistic term, I think a lot of folks would fall into that category. Honestly, of all the theists I encounter, folks like yourself would be my preference every time. I used to spend a lot of time with the Unitarians (when I still lived in a place with a Unitarian church), and they taught me a lot about deism -- some deists pray to a generic (

Myrrander, (and he's my bud, no doubt), is the only leftie on this thread (IMO, or that I've seen) who has been an instigator. I think the word you were looking for is "asshole." <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgCo

Hehe how many of these are about me? I can see one that is, for sure. Having just passed both a urine and blood drug test for this insomnia study I'm participating in, I can assure everyone that I've been extremely clean and sober lately. "Lately" meaning for at least the past 6 months. As for how smart I think I am, well, it depends on the subject. I'm pretty smart when it comes to poetics, theology, history, and growing potatoes. I'm no

Why is it, when somebody disagrees with you (me, in this case), it's being a "self parody" and "taking things out of context." I thought you were "encouraging debate" and all that. I maintain my point -- your definitions of "feminism" and "female superiorism" are based solely on how you think women should act. The same would be true if I wrote an article trying to define terms such as those (although the definitions would be different). I

A better title for this would be "Equal Protection -- Unless you are part of the former majority" because EVERYTHING you stand for is in decline, Little Guy. Sorry. When my sisters and brothers and I are in the majority, and we rule you, we promise to protect your decrepit, out of touch self.

Tsk. The symbol is the revolution of the working man. The rest is my resistance to any man's take on the affairs of women. When Catholics start letting women use contraception, I might start thinking about taking you seriously. Until then, Cheers.

*laugh* Man, Harry Belafonte has so much pull in the US, man. Chavez is neither as powerful nor as socialist as people think. And if the First Ammendment quit giving Americans the right to say things like this, then I missed that memo. Lastly, when I saw an article by you called "very angry," I laughed, because you could call every one of your misguided rants the same thing. Cheers.

In other words: "Feminists" agree with my idea of how women should act; "female supremacists" exceed the boundaries I have placed on women. If you really want to support feminism, stop trying to pigeonhole women.

Deference >> Yeah, on reading that again, it sounded way too maudlin, didn't it? I haven't been blogging lately because of time restraints, but then again, I suppose I could always MAKE time. Man, current events just don't inspire me to write a thing. I get so grumpy when I blog constantly about politics, it's like every 6 months or so I just have to either blog about dumb stuff or just not blog at all.

I don't know anything about Firefly, but I was definitely an X-Files fanboy back in the day. Me and Amy used to watch re-runs on FX every night we could. I'm not as much a Star Trek fan, but I really like a couple of the movies and we watched "Voyager" quite regularly back in the day. And when it comes to Star Wars...*sigh*...I've done everything but dress up. Hahahaha! Baker's always giving me shit for dissing sci-fi, and it's not because

Oh, fine, I'll bite this obvious bait. The major flaw with this article is that you anthropomorphise "evolution" into something that "says Hitler is a-okay." Evolution, being a process, doesn't "say" anything. Evolution isn't a person or a god, it doesn't make moral judgements one way or another. Your whole article, therefore, is based on on an incorrect premise. Sincerely, Self-proclaimed Nihilist (and if you don't get

Is THAT why you got so mad and blogged about it when I put you on my blacklist? (*evil grin*). months ago, I felt differently...like I said, i spent some heavy time here (where I'm in the minority), on Dkos (where I'm generally in the majority), and on a few other sites, and I realized...I'm blogging a
