eh, blogging is mental masturbation and the endless, nobody ever changes their mind debates are that times ten...times a hundred...having spent (read: wasted) time arguing with folks here and on other sites like Dkos, it just seems rather a rather pointless exercise. then again, that's my opinion, which isn't even good to fertilize your roses with, being just words on a screen.

Yeah, I got mail on this from the Southern Baptist Convention the other day. I wrote them back telling them how happy I was that the problems of world hunger, war, child sexual slavery, and environmental degradation had been solved, freeing up time for trivial matters such as who appears in a Ford advertisement.

I consider the ones that are the main bloggers here to be the "In" crowd. Dharma, Whip, Texas, Myrrander, etc. Don't include me in the "in" crowd on a Dr. Guy thread, you might make him cry. The "in" crowd here consists of people with too much time on their hands. From time to time, that includes me,

Heya Gid, you're bang on in calling this a very real ailment. My dad always goes into the doldrums as the days get shorter and spends all the time he can outside in the sun. There's an equivalent disorder (the name escapes me, apologies) for people who get a little crazy when the days get longer. I often wonder if the basis for this sort of thing might have something to do with which part of the world our genetic stock comes from. Then agai

Weather folks are saying that Houston is in better shape than was thought yesterday. Hope your parents are safe. I hope people will take the example of Brandie's folks as people who are not poor, not black, and still unable to evacuate a city under a Hurricane warning. Those of you who have followed the news have seen what sort of traffic situation there was. I hope you'll look at the family of a fellow JoeUser and realize that no

I think Paul Bourne is our old friend Lucas Bailey. People with nothing better to do than this "investigative" bullshit are my biggest pet peeve. Get off the government tit and get a job, you moocher! Bwahahahahahaha! And fire ants. They suck, too.

Any help you get from the government is just like Welfare, you moocher! *laugh* I haven't been on your blog (or JU altogether) much lately, thought I'd come fling some poo at you and then run away never to read your response. At least that's what they say about me. *laugh* We all know that we're right, and they're the idiots. No matter who "we" and "they" is. I'm posting this on the night I was whining a

oh, kiddo, are you disappointed in the death toll so far? I mean, it was 50,000 or more by the evening of 9/11 and 9/12 it wasn't that much in that case -- great i will be happy in less than primary assumptions in this case, too are you unhappy? didja want more dead black people? I'm not sure the point of this post, so I'm no sure where I should "take it" I'm always happy when tragedy

How long do you intend to embrace that sawed-off little dictator? I guess as long as you can keep your head up your ass without suffocating... I've been wondering the same since Jan 20, 2001. I'll keep supporting him until he betrays the cause. When you take into account the level Venezuela r

You just want the nihilist mystique and still be able to condemn people self-righteously based upon whatever values system you happen to favor that particular moment... Nah. It's just fun being one of the lone voices of dissent in the JU Republican echo chamber. I wasn't aware of any 'nihilist

With most government aid recipients living in the "red" states, you'd be hurtin' your own base, there, bubba. Hey Baker, Chavezuela has seen a huge decline in poverty since The Man's been in power...unlike the 10 percent increase we've had here under our own Dear Leader.

"I pledge allegiance to nothing and will live until I die. The flag's just a cloth, the country is just an artificial political construct created with the best of intentions but having fell from idealism into cynicism deserves to be destroyed in revolution. Quasi-religious rote memorization oaths are meaningless and insulting to the intelligence of thinking people everywhere. One Nation, or many, doesn't matter, survival is everthing for all." <

Why Dr. Bailey! I'm sure you'll regale us all with tales of your Venezuelan Studies classes at some community colllege in Central Oregon! Bakerstreet, our bitter-but-jesus-love-you-christian friend has one big mistake. Chavez isn't out for the same goals as those Middle Eastern kids. He wants to bring about the leftist revolution that's been brewing in South America for about 60 or more years. You rightie idiots forgot about the So

I get tired of being told that as an atheist I "hate" or "fear" God (or gods or goddess). "Hating" God, to me, would be like hating Santa Claus for not bringing me a new Porsche for Christmas -- makes no sense, because it's silly to hate that which does not exist. "Fear" is in the same category. I should fear God as much as I fear the Wolfman -- something that doesn't exist. It isn't a fuss about things that represent God -- we're not a nas

There is no reason for unwanted pregnancies. Birth control is available everywhere. You can buy condoms as easily as bubble gum. You can go to Planned Parenthood and get pills for dirt cheap and they give out condoms. You don't need insurance or much money to get birth control. I agree. I'm with Bl

You disappointed that the death toll doesn't seem as high as first feared? Interesting viewpoint. I'm no fan of Nagin -- he was a Republican up until he wanted to be elected mayor of a Democratic city (his roots might explain his cluelessness, eh?), but preparing for the worst and having it not be that bad seems like, oh I don't know, a GOOD thing to me.

Dear, dear Terp, the poor dear, he misses the point. The right has castrated our social workers. How do your faith based workers solve these problems? Or was I inncorrect to read that a state-based sherriff's office found them?
