I have nothing to add to the above except to say I agree. I think your step-daughter is particularly lucky to have such a loving, supportive and caring father as you. She may not know it know but at some point in the future, she is going to realise this.

Nothing out here but us crickets... :)

I know this so well. It is exactly how I feel about my lovely wife. What a beautiful piece.
Great photos. I particularly like the one titled 'Linger'. It looks cool, mysterious and some how inviting too.
I think of self-discipline is linked to belief in one's own abilities. It is not merely whether they're born with it or if they learned it (I think it is most likely a combination of the two, although I'm kind of hedging my bets here). I agree with Whip - boot camp is where a soldier learns obedience and team work. Anyone working against this soon finds out there is no place in the services for them.
I'm back into my normal schedule after having a break away over the holiday period. It was tough coming back but I was pleased I got up to my normal figures straightaway. I guess it means I am fit. As for diet, I now, for the first time in my life, have a bit of fat around my waist, despite all the exercise. I have been told this is probably due to all the carbohydrates I eat. I am planning on cutting back on them, losing the little tire and then I will be
that movie with those long legged monster machines
The movie is 'War of the Worlds', as you previously mentioned. As for the noise, it might have been our universe rubbing up against another. I hope we don't get a bill for scratching it
Mason said pretty much what I wanted to say: steroetypes are a lazy way of thinking. Doesn't matter who you are, there are no limitations to what you can do except in your own mind. Great article, Serenity. :)
Doc, In my childhood home, the ratio was 5 male to 2 female. Yet we boys were always castigated about leaving the seat up. I wish I'd thought to point out the girls should afford us the same courtesy. But I think I would have gotten a clip under the ear for being cheeky if I had.
The bastard really makes it a compliment! I wanna keep it!
 As they say in the westerns, if the hat fits, wear it [e digicons]:P[/e]
I don't ever absolutely believe anything except that everything changes, in time. Roy has made a particularly astute point. I don't expect any one who finds strength and comfort in their beliefs would ever be affected by say the news that intelligent aliens exist. Sure, there will probably be panic of a sort, and a few will have some sort of crisis of faith. But I don't think this would be the majority.
 Very funny, this. It is a no-win situation, at least for the bloke. I've had this 'discussion' numerous times over the years and, despite me pointing out your very valid point for consideration, I have not yet won a single round.
Fuck you three times... Bastard... Oh, waiting a minute; I've always got to take it too far, don't I? Okay, I'll take back the 'bastard' bit.
So it wasn't a "hand job" more of a wet dream.
This story even made into papers here in Australia. I was gobsmacked until I read the version we got here. It appears as though he had tried all other avenues of negotiation with his estranged wife with regards to visitation rights and she kept dicking him around so he decided on this course of action. I don't think he really expects to get anything out of it except to shame his ex into doing to right thing with respect to their children. And of course, it is the poor
Hey mate, do you think you could forward the instructions on how to embed a video to me as well? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks :)
Mate, it is so good to see you back and writing. I just hope you make it more regular. To answer your question (and despite my personal beliefs) my kinda God would have a great collection of rock including QOTSA, Fu Manchu, Deftones, Led Zep and Sabbath, to name a few. He'd also have some old blues, a tasty selection of funk, some old school hip hop (because if the man existed, he'd definitely be old school) and the entire collection from The Roots, because those

Kelly, Me too. I remember when their programming was mostly music, not crappy reality shows.
All this talk of zombies makes me want to watch 'Shaun Of The Dead' again. But I do know what you mean. I struggled on Monday as well but thankfully, had a pretty quiet day.
I too let the fitness regime fall away over the holidays. But I went back last Sunday and have been going every day since. While I am lucky that I don't need to watch my weight, I do want to try to adjust my diet so I am not eating so many carbohydrates and am eating more protein. Good luck with it all in 2009, Serenity.
An interesting opposing view to Draginols, Serenity. After some thought, my comment on his article suggested that the complacency he things he sees could actually be veiwed by others as contentment. Not everyone is an adventurer in life and I'm sure many are completely satisified with who they are and what they have.
I too find it much easier to learn something new from a book. Good luck with your new purchases. As for resolutions, I don't bother making them, at least not particularly at this time of year. I am of the belief that if something needs doing, then I try to get it done, regardless of what time of year it is. But I don't have a problem with others who do make resolutions, so good luck with yours and a Happy New Year to you and your family as well.
I always felt the elder son could have done with getting out more, like his younger brother did. I view the younger as an adventurer, keen to learn about the world and what it has to offer. In some ways, and even though I'm the eldest son, I like to think of myself like this too.
I like to think I hold the same sort of feeling for my father. Thankfully, he is still around, albeit far from where I live. We talk every week, though. Thanks for reminding me how much I love him. Beautiful work, as always, mate.
