I assume you made it that way because of balance issues?
It's actually simpler than that: It's because of performance issues. If every ship was looking at every ship in the galaxy, calculating their distance from them versus their weapon's range, and so forth all the time, well, I'm sure you could see the problem with that.
Thats awesome. Might I ask what that might be? Is it a sequel?
</s
Does it need to be done through you every time (I dont plan on having it reset frequently) or can it be done through regular BMTmicro staff if I cant get into contact with you?
I would not expect the same pity we showed from BMT Micro, given the reason for the lockouts. I do not believe my boss would look kindly on resetting your password either as you appear to have ignored our request to tighten your control on the download link. Further, we d
It is likely that would trip the password block, yes, as warned it might. If it is as such, then yes we would have to reset the password for you again if you needed to redownload it. To your other question: Ships cannot "see" outside their current gravity well, but you can. If a target is within their firing range and the weapon is ready and the target was declared: The weapon will fire. So: No automatic firing of weapons between systems, but as
If I want further advice for playing the game, where's the best place to look?
http://forums.blind-mind.com/index.php
So, Tankers will only do this if the "super hauler" is in the same gravity well?
Or the same fleet.
Is it possible to scuttle ships?
LMB on the ship to be scuttled, right click on
I'm afraid not. The only orders that go beyond that scope are defend range orders and auto-colonization/scouting orders.
That's because though the textures will be reduced in scale, they're still having to be loaded into memory -- which causes the slowdown you're experiencing. It's normal for it to be a second or four for those to load as most everything else it's loading is either text-based (which loads very quickly) or procedurally generated (which is also fairly fast). Re: Tankers -- they're for groups of travelling ships, mainly fleets. Re
That the password should function. Re: Tighter control: We believe that the password was auto-blocked because there were two IPs that attempted to download the file; each IP was multiple states away from the other.
We've reset the password for now but ask that you place tighter control on the links you purchase from BMT or, if you're using a proxy or VPN service, to turn it off if you're attempting a re-d/l. Please let us know if you need further help. :)
Huh? Could you e-mail me the link at so I can verify it? Is it malformed? Gibberish? 403'd?
That's interesting. Maybe you have slow RAM/GPU? That would be loading the texture/model heavy files (the models and textures for the shipsets).
No copy of Star Ruler uses DRM to my knowledge [exception: Steam]. Amazon *might* have DRM but games I've grabbed from them haven't had DRM installed. That of course doesn't mean it's guaranteed, just my anecdotes have that experience. If he bought from BMT Micro he'll get the same thing you got. Star Ruler is Star Ruler no matter what distributor you got it from as far as connections go; the only potential problem may be Steam if the new p
This prevents you from doing so how? The game doesn't prevent you from installing it somewhere else if you installed it somewhere already. It doesn't delete the setup EXE/ZIP when you install it. Just give him a copy of the installer. :P
Just zip up the EXE and put it somewhere would be my advice. :P
Do you not have any external media the game installer could be pushed to? You could just upload it to a filesharing service and send yourself the link to it and/or your brother.
If it's refusing to install, then it should be compatible with SR. I'm not sure why your maps are taking a long time to load. Could you tell me at what stage of map loading you're experiencing the slowdown? SR saves are not particularly large and I would imagine would load fairly quickly for most map sizes and object counts unless your CPU is struggling to process the data.
So ive purchased the game in the manner that youve told me and... what the hell... am I only allowed to download the game once? How is that not DRM in itself?
Not to my knowledge. The URL should be valid forever. Besides that, as the others have said: How could that be considered DRM? You're allowed to back it up any place and any where you wish any number of times you like to whatever devices, storages, and so forth you desire. It wi
Don't feel too bad. I was jobless at 18 myself in spite of my attempts to get another and was dead broke. :p Either case. The "code" it gives you is really a URL that links to the game's download if I recall correctly. So in either case you'll get the goods. Also, we don't employ any DRM of any kind so feel free to back that file up in a secure location that you can get it from. The URL shouldn't expire either though, so as lon
Note you can also purchase Star Ruler from BMT Micro off our website: clicking the Buy Now button will get you there. It just gives you a zip or exe I believe when you complete your purchase. We did pull SR, to clarify unacomn's statement. One of our distribution partners, IGS, put it back as was their right per the agreement we signed. We're not happy about it but it was their decision to make. We are unlikely to return thanks to both
If they were parked in orbit they would likely use less fuel. If their power generator runs off fuel then, of course, they'll still be burning it. If the ships are constantly running for fuel then either your fuel capacitance is too low (the default AI setting tells them to refuel when they're down to 48% of max) or the percentage for fetching fuel is too high. If they're just dying for no foreseen cause: Add a capacitor to their design. Designs wit
Depends on which demo you played. It may have been the 1070 demo or the 1100 demo (which is current). The UI did change somewhat between 1070 and 1100; mostly presentation wise. Functionally it's the same system with a few tweaks; e.g. when you zoom to an object now it'll keep the same distance between you and the camera as there was previous I believe. I did rework it to make much more information exposed and at-a-glance however. If your object
Who ever hosts the server is the server operator, yes.
None I saw. Only thing I could help out with is that: Yes, you can change the time flow in MP but only the server operator gets to mess with the gamespeed. Nobody can pause without them doing it, etc.
Hahaha. No hard feelings. We always get a chuckle out of the unintentional variants on our studio name.
Who's that?
We have no idea. We also don't know who "Blind Melon Studios" or "Mind Blind Studios" are. :p -Co-lead Developer, Blind Mind Studios
Impulse has done a great deal for us, yes. We have thought this over; there are many angles for which we do not wish a partnership with GameStop. To quote myself:
In sum: We have no confidence in their ability to run Impulse, service our customers, or deliver able competition in the digital distribution market and suspect that they will begin enforcing many of their personal policies (and in potential contrast and/or violation of the GBoR). As such, we are not inter
