So, indirectly, the placement of any Spy (at any time) is a sort of DL activation of the previously available espionage slider, right? There is no "clear" way to verify this unless the popups start to rollout about race X or Y, etc - though. And, i was preciously keeping those agents handy waiting for the opportunity to nullify others while i could have been receiving precious info on AIs! Darn, i must revise my espionage tactics and start dropping a few if i want to get these details
Hold it, not sure about this but here goes anyway;Going from DL to DA, haven't we lost the 'espionage' sliders in the Foreign/Report(s) screen where we could adjust the level of spying individually?Wasn't this feature pulled off to make room for the true Spies placing schema?
You are correct, your spending now buys you actual spies which you must place.
Cuz, i swear, i have absolutely no way to control HOW my espionage points gets spent on race X... and t
I was under the impression that those espionage bonuses only allow you to devote more of your income to making spies. I think the normal cap is like 25%. (?) If an opponent has a spy it can neutralize yours the same if you have a bonus or not.
That's not correct. The spending cap is 25% no matter what your espionage bonus is. Based on experience, it seems that the bonus either increases the rate at which you gain espionage "levels" on opponents where you have active
The espionage is fun, but it doesn't seem possible to devote enough of my resources to it to get enough spies working. My agents last at most two or three turns and are then nullified, no matter what. This makes it impossible to get the increased level research, but those reports are so confusing they are not that much use to me anyways.
It is very possible to get all the way to "Advanced" espionage level against opponents, provided you are willing to pay for it.
I know it's late in the game for suggestions, but I would just like to throw out my support for diplomatic relations suffering as % of planets a player controls increases, along with equal diplomatic bonuses for all other players, and maybe an additional diplomatic bonus for civs fighting the dominant civ. They've said that, at this point, TA is on feature lock. The better thing would be to encourage them to make another expansion, focussed on diplomatic issues and the UP. Frogboy and Car
Actually I really like his suggestion. I'll see what I can do. This is the first beta with significant AI changes since Dark Avatar. Hopefully you're already starting to notice improvmeents (mostly Drengin AI).
In the game I'm currently playing the Drengin haven't seemed to show up at all. They are doing really poorly (and in last place in all categories). But, you indicate that the Yor and Korath are using the Drengin AI and those two races are kicking butt^2.
But what happens when you have level 1 farms on a planet where you don't want to use level 2, and then research level 3 farms? Wouldn't everything auto-upgrade? Then you'd have to go around and decide which upgrades to cancel. On a big map, that could be a huge pain.
You have a choice, turn off auto-upgrade or do what you have already said when farms upgrade. The former is a lot huger pain, but you are very right...it's a bit of a pain. I wish there was a way to tur

Yah, pretty much... If a race totally outclasses you militarily and is allied with every other race on the map, you had lost already and just weren't accepting it until they got the technology victory. That kind of situation is not only an effective Diplomacy victory, but a gauranteed military victory too if they had wanted to pursue it. I mean, it seriously sounds like they had you heavily outmatched in terms of military, clearly were very advanced technologically, and had every bas
Or are your trade slots filled?
He'd get a message telling him that was the issue if they were filled though. I can't help but think he either isn't targeting the planet or the ship isn't even fitted with the trade module. Could be a new bug that isn't affecting everyone too, though.
may have found a bug in 6a. Although the game no longer calls non-core starbase modules (i.e., defense and sensor modules on an economic/mining/influence base) ascension modules, as per your change log, it now no longer permits you to build them at all. This was in a beta 6 save game (which did load as promised) playing Terrans, if it makes any difference.
I have the same problem in my game which was in progress before this latest update. I noticed mention was mad
I send my trade ships to other alien planets but when they get there they just stand there they won't start a trade route. What am I doing wrong?
You need to target the planet as the destination for the ship. When the ship hits the planet it will start a trade route (or tell you you can't). If that isn't working for you...I can only ask, are you sure the ship is fitted with the module required for trading?
Hey it's working now! I backed up all my important crap on my external hard drive and restored my laptop to when I first got it. I must of did something somewhere along the line that caused the game to act up. I don't know if it was the best solution, but it got the job done! I really appreciate you guys trying to help me out, it means a lot. Thank you and good night!
Congrats Isiss. The blurring effect I mentioned in regards to anti-aliasing typically occurs on Text in the games I've seen it in. It has nothing to do with an untrained eye, antialiasing turned on in the video card in these games causes the text to be "blended" with the game imagery. One pixel width or not, it looks blurry whether your eye is trained or isn't. I have no idea whether or not this effects this game or not however as I do not have a profile set to enable AA for this game; I don't se

I'm not having that problem. One thing I had to do was delete all race customization I'd saved prior to the update though. For me, it crashed upon entering the race selection screen until I did that. Also, are you sure you aren't selecting a custom map that has those settings?

Do you have anti-aliasing cranked up in your video card drivers? Anti-aliasing tends to blur the heck out of some games.
Same maint. as the enhanced xeno farm. I've built a few distribution centers, but I rarely find them useful.
I totally agree, "rarely" being the keyword. Sometimes, they are. I probably micro-manage my population more than alot of people though. I agree with TC in terms of it being less useful than it could be based on where it is in the tech tree. Getting it earlier would make it alot more useful.
Much cheaper just to build one of the lower tech farms alongside your new one if you want a few more billion people.
Cheaper to build, but not in terms of maintenance, which is what matters long term. I've found some instances where I consider the distribution center worth building.
I'm not sure if this has already been commented on but I don't feel like reading through 15 pages of suggestions. Anyway I've noticed that TA keeps my old custom races on the opponent screen. I like this feature, but I'd also like a way to disable it and/or delete the old races. The big problem is that I modified one of those races slightly (abbreviated the name, changed the color, and made them super traders instead of super hive). The result is now BOTH are up there. In a related note I

Try playing on bigger maps set to tight clusters on the stars, and Ctl-N til you get a map that puts you with several completely empty sectors between you and any of the AI's and where the AI's are in proximity's and a layout where it is likely they will go to war with each other before picking on you. If you do this, and also do not neglect your diplomacy, it should buy you enough time to "be ready" before you engage in conflict. At sub-normal, you shouldn't have any problem winn

Ouch, Mrakomo...that would bug the heck out of me. So maybe I've just been very lucky in that I manage to flip these quickly; I'm not sure what the formulaes are for calculating this sort of thing. Seeing it always happen had me assume the AI was being pretty dumb, but based on your experience, maybe not so much. Thank you for the replies. :)

The AI seems to be pretty dense when it comes to creating colonies. Even on very high intelligence levels, it doesn't seem like it is smart enough to consider the impact of Opponent's Influence on a new colony. Just some examples from recent games: In my current game, my Influence is the second highest (2nd only to the Thallan), and it's good enough to push against them to keep their border from enroaching on my claimed worlds. The silly bugs
