Today is my wife's (the lovely and talented Life-happens') birthday. I don't really have any way of getting her anything to celebrate, seeing as my credit card has expired, so the only thing I could think of was to get on here and tell the JU community how I feel about her, and give you a glimpse of her the way I see her. She is truly a magnificent young woman; she is

Welcome, Kingbee, thanks for coming. I didn't know if more than just a few folks were reading these things. THanks for your support, and from what you've told me here you've been supporting the military for a long time. I think that somone really does need to speak up and tell the public all sides of a conflict so that we don't end up in something stupid. I'm glad to know your actions were meant with respect for the soldiers, but you and your group wer
In the first part on this series on war, I started by talking about the benefits the average soldier gets from benig in this conflict. The first article was about how we are recieving better equipment to help us do our jobs, adn the second was on the training and readiness benefits derived from having a large fighting force experienced at combat. This article is going
Hey everybody, it's my sister, the Mamester! say hi!
I will have to admit my ignorance of the psalms. The only one I know to quote is the one that goes 'yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil...'. I was angry when I wrote this, I don't know if you can tell, but with a few days to calm down I'm not so bent out of shape. I have been watching world news lately, and see that folks in Asia are having it tough too. Maybe what we all need is some comforting from the ro
Hey pretty girl! I'm glad you made it home ok. I love you!
One of the reasons I like hanging out with Life-happens is that I'm always finding out new stuff about her. She's never boring, and her hair looks great long or short, in many different colers. Every time we get back together, we get to get to know each other all over again... That's about the only advantage I can think of to all these separations.
I know what it means to love a dog like a member of the family; like a brother or like a child. They can bring a great deal of happiness to your life.
We had another car bomb go off outside the day before yesterday. This was a big one, the closest, and largest they've gotten yet. I had come on shift maybe an hour prior and was doing the things I do here at work when it went off. Once again, it wasn't so much a noise as a concussive force that moved in a wave through the building. It shoved me back from my desk, and
I know the army has its share of silliness. I just rty to remind myself that selling widgets to people who don't need them is a waste of my life's potential; in the army, at the end of the day, I feel better about having to go through the pettiness because it was pettiness in the causse of freedom.
I can't tell you how many times I've been shaken awake by Life yelling "Quit snoring on me!" I'm not even aware it's happening. Of course, neither of us are having this problem right now...
I mentioned in the last episode how working for the soulless software company was an exrcise in humiliation. I was required to put up with abuse from the customers and my various bosses alike, and smile and enjoy it while it was happening. This was not the extent of the humiliations I had to suffer. Every effort I ever made to enjoy the job was crushed by my boss or m
I remember when I was working for the soulless software corporation, we sold a couple different small business packages that would help you start up, keep your books, and help you with your taxes as well. That was a while ago, but I bet such a thing still exists, and may be even better with the leaps in technology that have been mad since then.
Happy New Year Dharma. I'm glad you decided to let up on the no replies from non-users. I started out here lurking and occasioanally replying, and eventually joined, and it's been a good experience for me. Your site was one of the ones that inspired me to give this a shot myself. You may yet inspire others to do the same. Remember also you have a large group of fans who are more than willing to regulate on someone if they give you any shit. Thanks agai
Thank you Dharma. You could have included yourself on this list.
Congratulations to you both
Happy New Year, Pseudo. I hope it's a better one for all of us.
I'm sitting here staring at the blank page, trying to think of a way to start this article, to express profound depression I'm feeling right now. It's not debilitating like I've seen some folks have, it isn't anything that will affect my life. It's jsut a sense of loss, disappointment for something I hadn't even known was gone till I was reminded that it wasn't there
Thanks everybody. Dharma, I appreciate the offer, but truth is, we're pretty well set up here. The things we need here aren't things you can put in a package. If you could find a way to mail us some warm weather, more sleep, or a freight elevator for the palace, then you would be my hero. How about you keep reading my stuff, responding now and then, things like that? hearing from you and D is a bright spot in the day here. Y'know, getting a good wr
I went to enter a new article in my blog last night and found that there was a problem with the site. It wouldn't let me access anything but JU's main page, so once I finished reading that I was left with nothing to do. In a fit of internet boredom, I figured I'd google myself, and see what I could find. If you've ever played with google, you know that you can enter s
There is a popular saying here in the middle east; at the end of a declaritive statement, when you announce intent, you end your statement by saying 'inshallah'. It means 'if it is God's will that it be so.' For instance, you could say 'I will meet you at the post office at 3:00pm, inshallah.' More than a popular saying, this phrase is a major bit of insight into the
I wish it would. I'm not importing these things from word or another word processor, I'm hand-jamming them straight into JU, and so far I haven't been able to find a spell check function. If there is one, please, tell me how to use it. anybody!
I wonder what Life-happens will have to say when she sees this? She's an ex-army army wife. I've been here only a few months, and my opinon on this whole matter is divided neatly in half. On the one hand, There is nothing in this god-forsaken pit that is worth the life of another american soldier. on the other, we have worked too hard, sweat too much, and bled WAY too much to stop before we have turned this place into something worth
So, enlighten me, oh Guru of Geekside. What, exactly, will F7 do for me?
So , what do you think? Would Christmas in Iraq be depressing? Well, yes and no. On Christmas eve early in the morning, I was coming out of the shower trailer when somebody stopped me to talk. He was all dressed in his battle rattle, and had his duffle bag slung over his shoulder, and looked like he was in a rush. There was activity going on all around me, guys throwi
