These are fantastic. I'm looking forward to hearing about 'The Sea'. Thanks for sharing these stories with us. You realize you'll have to tell some more of your own stories too. Your audience is growing!

I always thought a fish stick was something that came in a box with the name Mrs. Paul on it. This is one of those areas that I don't know what I'm going to do to help him out. I have never been fishing once in my life. I have no skill in that area. I might get eaten by a shark.

What I find amusing is watching the bad B-movie action flicks and seeing hollywood re-creating the viet-nam vet with newer, younger actors, and using the Gulf War or OIF as their background. They're willing to sell the image to sell tickets, and they make the military out as both a bad-guy factory and a source of action movie stars.

She comes by it honestly. If you'll recall, her mommy was teaching yoga, aerobics, pilates, and abs classes, and doing cartwheels and other atheletic stuff up through her ninth month while pregnant with her. She is only following in your tight-roping foot steps.

I can't believe you don't already know the perfect name for your monkeys. If one is named Spank, the other, with a nod to all Peter Gabriel fans in the studio audience, should be named Shock. 'Spank' the monkey, and 'Shock' the monkey. Of course.

Are we chumps or warriors? we're both. It's a big country, and we have room for plenty of both. they subordinated what ought to have been primarily a military operation

One of these days I'll see if I can find you a copy of that poster that Fox Mulder had hanging on the wall of his basement office for the whole run of The X-Files; the one with the picture of the flying saucer and the caption that said "I want to Believe" I've never seen one, but I'd sure like to.

Gosh Grey, I guess I'm just not up to your standards of witty rhetoric. It isn't 'cuz you're any better educated than me, so it must be that my brain isn't half pickled...

My 4 year old got his first love note from a girl! That's my boy! "Hey mom! Did you know God believes in himself?"As I try to keep a straight face, he continues.... "That

My wife is a Sergeant First Class on active duty. I always knew she would end up being my boss. This is a topic close to home. In almost eleven years in the army and ten years married, I've spent roughly half that time away from home. I couldn't do it without Life-happens' full support, and I

I always loved this story, and it has been a great inspiration for me. When you first told it to us, we were caught up in the story and waited with rapt attention for the climax... The build up of circumstance and action led us to anticipate the crescendo of the finale, and when it turned out to be a punchline, we didn't know what to think! When I tell stories, I try to generate that same feeling of suspense, and have only rarely acheived it.

I think 'warrior monk' is a worthy goal to strive for. Also, rock on with the altruism.

I did not think. In my naiveté I assumed. I welcomed any who wanted to hear what I had to say, not thinking anyone would object to the truth as I see it. You’d think a cynical old soldier like me would know better, but it turns out I still have some of the blind spots of youth. Someone took exception to something I wrote, and it caused some

What I was responding to specifically was the attack on HW by some random moronic soldier that felt HW's service as an officer was somehow less than his. It was insulting (and beautifully defended, both by HW and lifehappens), Gideon, I really appreciate your and everyone else's support here at JU. The
