Post by Life_happens....I'm too lazy to log out of HW's account That song gets me in a way very few songs do. Seeing the video will bring a tear to my eye, even when HW is home.

And..... he's back. Thanks for the nod, Grey. The way this thread is going deserves a koe all its own, you may be seeing that in the near future from me, and I'll be sure to credit you for inspiration, if I can remember how to do the link thing...

Hey girl I meant to respond to this a while ago, but circumstances, you know. I love you and I want you to know you have made the right decision. I love you, and I'm proud of you, and I think you were very generous to her for far too long. You deserve better than her, and she doesn't deserve you at all.

Thanks for the bump, anonymous dude. Perhaps one day I will break down for the JU community the reqirements for treatments of detainees by the US military. That, at least, is not one of my vices; I write about what I know, and I generally spare folks my opinion on subjects of which I have little knowledge. I have never interrogated a known or suspected terrorist, but I work every day with guys who do. These are the experiences that form my opinions. Wa

Is sunset beautiful there? yes, it is. So is sunrise. Mostly. Will I be thought a hack by inadvertantly quoting Madonna and saying 'Beauty is where you find it." ?

So, SSG now? Cool! WHen did that happen? I've had this task on a few occasions, it ususally happens right after I arrive in a new unit. I just tell all the guys I'm observing that it's a unique way of getting to know each other, a bonding experience, if you will. Much like combat, or being taken hostage together would help us bond...

I remember watchin' you rassle SSG pretty-boy to a stand-still. He gave up because he couldn't match your stamina. That's a pretty manly feat. I also remember helping you work on White Lightning. We were both afraid it was going to fall apart around us. Ah well, most of these things are not the true measure of a man anyway. You are the real deal, don't sweat this other stuff.

Thanks for the write-up, Doc. It's true that the image of the dumb grunt is a misleading one; if you run into any infantry-men who have even a little success at what they do, you will find them to be pretty clever. They have to know a lot of stuff to do their jobs. Unfortunately, the idiots in today's milititary are usually found in the clerking jobs. The guys who handle our pay and personnel records. Hooray for us.

Pete Droge's first album, Necktie Second, has some of the best bluesy stuff I've ever heard on it. They used his one song, If you don't Love Me I'll Kill Myself in the Dumb and Dumber movie, and then he fell into mainstream obscurity. His second album, Find a Door, wasn't as good, but still pretty darn good.

a good public caining I agree. It's rare enough to see the classic muscle cars on the streets, it oughta be a crime punishable with extreme pain and humiliation to deface one.

Whoo Hoo! Someone else who gets it! I never went for the Tom Cruise Top Gun look....not manly enough. But give me a scruffy, muscled guy any day. I love the short hair, 5 o'clock shadow, big muscles in uniform look. mmmmmmmm yum. Who wants a prissed up pansy when you can have a ruggedly handsome hero.....
There were a few times when Dave would show me the bruises he'd sustained from the most recent battle he'd had. We'd be IM-ing and he'd turn on his web cam and sit there grinning as I 'wow-ed' over his marks
I've been a Ju-jutsu disciple for many years, and I know exactly what you are talking about. It hurts, it's painful, but there's just something about squaring off in unarmed combat with a skilled opponent that can't be imagi

As part of the Family Advocacy Program, the Army makes us attend a briefing at least once a year that deals with child and spouse abuse. The slide show is the worst part. The ones that really get to me are the pictures of little toddlers with black eyes, like somone socked them right in the chops. I have been frustrated with my kids before, any parent can tell you there are things kids do that can drive a sane person up a wall, but I just don'
