Of course the court turned it down. Its a no-brainer that if only one side of an issue can be presented, there is unfairness involved. This court is in no way going to rule for anything that even resembles pro-abortion. To have ruled against it would have shown they were in the back pockets of the anti abortion constituency. They were stuck. They could either make the right decision and give a victory to their enemies, or they could show themselve

You could have actually made some good points, but instead went right for the cheap shot. How Roveian of you. She actually makes a good point. Teaching abstinance only means that teachers are supposed to make all the decisions for the student, because there is only one choice. If you don't choose that non choice then you are filled with ignorance. Abstinance only tells us that we should not trust our kids with options.

Only the most ardent of leftists would support socialism. I can't point to any that are in Congress. Simply wanting the government to assist in some costly basic necessities is not in itself socialism. In socialism, everything is controlled by the state. Health care is an example of a necessity that has become too costly for many to afford, 45 million without insurance.

Call it bigotry if you like. I prefer the US attitude: turn the Mexicans, Guatemalans et al back at the border. Those Yanks do it quietly and efficiently too. The Brits make too much of a song about it. you might want to check that. we have millions of illegal immigrants as well and can do nothing with

By game standards since his federalist party became the whigs who in turn became Republicans, then George Washington is a Republican. The parties have of course changed after so many generations into something entirely different. For example Barry Goldwater would be appalled to have seen the huge deficits put up by Reagan/Bush/Dubyah. The Republican party drew strength from the south for those disaffected by the Democrats stand on anti-segregation l

You can take your America love it or leave it attitude and shove it up your ass. And up the ass up Richard Nixon, Archie Bunker and everyone that used it before them. We don't have to love what your Republican president is doing to this nation. Your blindness wrapped as patriotism is disgusting. It is my right as an American to speak out about what I believe is going wrong and its not America bashing. He

Mine has been gone for awhile and I voted for Bush. Your inability to remove a sticker that no longer carries *any* meaning tells me your living in a fantasy world. I believe it means I stick by my decisions.

IV. Not destined for greatness 20. Chester A Arthur- Arthur was another who excelled in beating down preconceived notions about him. Three years prior he had been booted out of a plum Tammany Hall position in an attempt to curb the political spoils system. He was VP to Garfield who was killed by a crazy scoundrel that showed the worst apects of that spoils system. Arthur used his administration to put an end to the corruption. Becaus

III. Taken From Greatness 15. William Howard Taft- despite what TR thought, he actually continued many of his predecessor's policies and even expanded on some. His was taken down by sniping from Roosevelt. 16. James Madison- Was it foolhardy to take on the British? Yes. Was it necessary? Again, yes. Early embarrassements led to great victories in Baltimore and New Orleans. The father of the Constitution. 17. Bill Clinton

II. Near Great Presidents 9. James Knox Polk- Probably the most underrated President of all. Largely forgotten because he literally worked himself to death in his one term. Brought Texas and California into the fold and stood up to the British to set our northern border. 10. James Monroe- The Monroe Doctrine was used many times by following adminstrations, from McKinley, Roosevelt and Polk. 11. John Kennedy- I tend to err on the

The History Channel just finished a wonderful 8 part documentary on the history of the Presidents. Watching it gave me an idea for a thread to rate the Presidents. Here goes: I. Great Presidents 1. Franklin Roosevelt- His leadership thru the depression and World War II make him the greatest president ever. He showed the nation that things would improve. This depite living his life in pain from polio. 2. Abraham Lincoln- Wh

Karl Marx was from Germany, who stated, with others, what came to be known as Bolshevism, and later Communism. He was exiled from his own country and was being chased around the world by stalin, who wanted to kill him. That was Leon Trotsky. Marx died in 1883. I know Stalin was a bad man, but he was o

Also, nothing disgusts me more than an anti-war protester hiding behind “support the troops” banners. It means that you don't want our soldiers to pay dearly for a misguided policy. Nothing disgusts me more than those who say we have to 100% back the President or we don't support the troops. Was he s
