it was to signal disappointment in Bush’s unprecedented habit of rewarding unabashed loyalty Just about everybody does that. The Spoils System. One of the few things Andrew Jackson did that I dislike.

Heh, Myrr using God in an arguement. Isn't that a sign of the apocalypse? Well, in a way that is a means to my end (no more uncivilized arguing) as I doubt they will give an answer without you ranting about not giving a real answer in a post. I will miss reading your outrage about it though.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. " -Theodore Roosevelt Looks like Teddy Roosevelt has got your back. Oh yeah, and me too. Actually, I was once talking to a friend and I happened to mention my opinion about burning the flag (they have a right to do it) and he started into

After a comment like that I'm surprised he is still able to call himself a Democrat......or not get beat up while walking through Texas. Or can he?

The dems as the minority party needs to do the reacxhing out and following our leader I again must point out that they can't just completely follow the president no matter what. If they did, Democrats would just become Mini-Republicans. They do need to start reaching out for some middle ground, however.

Interesting, Toblerone, I can already tell this is a series I will want to read. I would love to hear your alternatives to the monetary system; it is a system I have often heard criticized but never given a viable alternative. I can't wait for the next one.

Everything is designed to be used by right handed people, and those designed for "lefty's" are either novelty items or cost 5 times as much as the right handed equivolent. Furthermore, there are no government programs meant to even the playing field. Preach

I've been reading up on Reaganomics, and I have to say, his plan did seem muddled. It worked on many levels, but it is notable that the debt rose during the period as well. I would have to agree with Bush in calling it 'Voodoo economics.' Still, you can't have your cake and eat it too, I suppose.

...good luck on getting a trombone. Wow, never thought I'd say that. Hope your trombone skills get you somewhere good.

Hee hee. Silly (fellow) Democrats, the Repubs tell us we're collapsing because 'the whackos have hijacked the party.' Apparently, we can't control our own party anymore and will only elect far-left nuts. I would just like to point out that Republicans aren't fully accepting of their moderates either; McCain was shunned for the farther right Bush, for example. Although people seem to ignore people like Ann Coulter more than they ignore Michael Moore. I

Nope, sorry, I'm not in High School. I have two sisters, one is two years older than me, and the other is 8 years younger than me. I'm actually in Middle School, but it is my last year.

That reminds me of my saying "There are two sorts of people in the world, and I'm not one of them." sounds like you aren't either. He is certainly not human

Not to be nit picky, but who the heck is Charles H. Crawford, and why is he listed on the top 10 Presidential quotes? Congratulations, you won! I deliberately placed a fake one to see if anyone was paying attention. As far as I know, there is no such person as Charles H. Crawford. My real number 10 is

I recently came across a large amount of presidential quotes from every president. These are my 10 favorite. 1. "I do precisely what I think just and right." -Andrew Jackson Simple but powerful, Jackson sums up exactly what a president should do. 2. "To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the

Okay, I guess it's time for my serious response. If the question is would I, personally, vote in Iraq, then no. I am a coward, and however much I wanted freedom, I would be scared out of my mind. If the question is do I want Iraqis to have a Democracy, then yes. I think they deserve to be free. The thing is, I have always had something against invading a country to change their ideals to yours. There was once a man who convinced h

I often think of going Independent because of the reasons you stated, as I consider myself one of those moderate Democrats/liberals you mentioned. But, the Democrats have views closer to mine than any other party. And I stick by my views. I don't care how many whacko lefties there are, I am me, these are my opinions, and the Democrats are the ones who share those views.

As a child of the 90's, I have never and most likely will never experience such times. I live in what was probably once such a town, but is now like TasT's. Feel lucky you could live in such a time.
