I just got through dumping Windows and doing the hard-core swap over to Fedora Core 4 x64. Reppiks, you CAN change how your PC looks and acts, if your in KDE, go through the control panel to Look and Feel, the skins option is in there, or if your in Gnome (like me), go through Preferences > Theme. I decided to drop windows a long time ago, but due to hardware problms, i could not, but i can and did now. Everything that you have to

all they have to do is make a general registry entry of, say like, "SkinsInUse", and have it record the number of users, and what skin they are using, then before a preson can delete a skin, a msgbox will pop up, letting them know that User So and So is using the skin, and that it cant let them delete it. Simple Registry editing and VB can do this, why cant the do this for WB?

Back from when I used to play EverQuest, Solosturm was my first ever char. I have not since quit EQ (it IS like crack!), and have traded it for Skinning. My name, as it has been for a few years now, is now Solo.Dev (even in my gmail address), ad a testiment that i am a Solo Developer in C++ and VB. The avatar is a testament to OSX and Redhat, two of my favorite OSes.

I tried out opera back when it was a simple MDI app, way back in '96 or '97, before skinning was even added it. I remember it fondly because it was the "floppy disk web browser", as in, the only webbrowser that you could download the install to a floppy and it would fit.

who cares if it looks goofy or not, the one and only important question here is this: will it work like how it is supposed to? Even if it looks goofy, who cares, if it lets the gamer play the game like how it is supposed to do, then it works, odd design or not. and really, i cant even begin to tell you how many people i see playing a game, rocking back and forth, jerking the controller from side to side, as if it will affect

All email places keep a copy of the client emails, if for no other reason then for backup reasons. filters scan the emails for key words and phrases, so in essence, it is "reading" your email. ALL filters, for ALL email providers. Remember when the (US) goverment did that thing where it made it so that they could filter emails and determine about terrorists? Point of fact is this, Someone, Somewhere, knows Exactly what your doing, YES

i do perfer Linux to Windows, there is just not an IDE that i like (Glade2 is ok i guess), but if you want Mac of PC, try Darwin Linux, it is the exact same source used to make OS X, just with out all of the "special" apple only hardware.

Been using Linux off and on for about 10 years now, and everytime i decide to re-format my PC, i to a linux partition and a win partition. i used to use caldera linux, but they got assimilated in to SCO, so i went 100% mandrake. Good artical, thanks for trying to bering newbs to the light side, instead of the dark side.

Draginol, I sadly have to admit, your right, to an extent. As an "amature / freelance" programmer (been doing it for 15+ years though) I have even a website or two that welcoms any new apps that I write, but at times, i just sit back, and wonder "does it need more? will the appreciate this?" and usually i do get a headache. Good Example is eNDesk:Icon, my freeware clone like for IconX, although a bit different. Some features i cannot get

oh wow, real mature people. You to Jafo. An applcation and a program are the same thing, just a different name. So the guy decided to go Mac, ok? Was it necessary for him to make a big fuss? No. Respect other people... or did your moms never teach yall that? and just FYI, I dont care if yall bash me for this. I know that i am right, and so does every toher level headed person out there in the world.

Drop125 may (or may not) agree with me, but when it comes to that faster OS, i would have to say that it would have to go to a Linux Distro (Mandrake, IMHO). There are TONS of apps out there that do what most windows apps do, but i do have to admit that the linux enviroment can be intimidating at times, and that it ha not yet reached that "New User" friendly level yet. As far as what Brad said... "one has to wonder if Linux advocates were
