Does this AI work in multiplayer, and do all players need the mod installed and enabled for it to function? EDIT: ^ Read OP again ;) I'm guessing currently the mod overrides the standard AI for the various difficulties, but are the difficulties rebalanced at all? Obviously for the purpose of Nightmare AI, there's not much need to rebalance as Nightmare needs a bit of a buff. Is it, or will it ever, be possible to pit standard AI versus Pepp

It's funny, before Demigod came out, GPG were saying their idea is not DotA, and all the DotA fans are screaming OMGWTF this is ripping off DotA how dare you. Then when it comes out, it's not as much like DotA as all the fans were screaming about, and all the DotA fans get all pissy that DG != DotA. Then HoN comes along and all the DotA fans are screaming, LOL FU DG HoN = DotA. I can't wait until HoN is released and all the DotA/HoN fans fuck off and actually play the g

Well once again, with the skills he already has, his skill bar is full. So another active skill isn't going to fit unless one of the spirits are removed in either Roam or Bind Summoning Mode. Also, well, the point of this class is to be somewhat specific in play style, and require the enemy to acknowledge his weaknesses. Sure in a 1v1, enemy demigods will just armour up and will weaken the Spiritmaster's ability, but isn't every demigod supposed to be counterable? In a 2v2 for

Oh I like the story, it's pretty cool, definitely makes him a light general and not dark, although I was pretty loose on that anyway :) I don't think there's any need to lengthen it, it rounds off pretty well I think. I'll clean it up spelling-wise etc, and add it to the OP, I get the feeling you got all excited when you wrote it :) As for the passive skill, well I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean, it does

Yo, glad you like it. Yeh if you wanna whip up a backstory go nuts :) As for more abilities, I'm fairly sure I've filled all 4 slots! (1 for mode switching, 3 skills for each mode) Unless of course you can think of some passive abilities he/she could use?

Great ideas guys :D I like the theming proposal too, simply because it would allow identification of the build as well. This is not such a problem with the current demigods ofcourse because their skills are much more visual, but for a Bind Summoning build their main skill is simply buffed stats rather than a visual identifier provided by animation and particle effects etc. One thing I'm still concerned about is how do you stop a heavily buffed Bin

As another point, whilst his base stats are rubbish, given a high enough spirit count, he could really be seen as a real hit and fade build as well. Large amounts of Agile + Strong Spirits could really get him in melee range and with the ability to deal some high damage. Ofcourse, alot of his spirits may get nuked in the process leaving him very vulnerable, hopefully after really hurting the nuker very quickly in the first place. Demigod's would also really be forced to play a build that had

That's the point, this guy needs spirits to survive, and his weakness is losing them so anybody that can AOE the crap out of him is somebody he really needs to worry about! Ofcourse, if he is finding that players are dealing alot of AOE, his Roam Summoning skills can really be used to create an area of denial and hold the line, whilst using Greedy Spirit to earning more cash and spend on new items (to boost his stats when his spirits get pwned), or spend on citadel providing more support acro

1. The Spiritmaster (Dark General) A. The Spiritmaster is based around the concept that he is virtually useless without his spirits to buff him. He is a mode-switching demigod, that provides either selfish spirits or selfless spirits. B. http://forums.demigodthegame.com/363573

Ok here's my idea for a demigod. One thing I love is how Oak's spirits can be used to buff his own stats, but felt that this idea could really be expanded to a new demigod idea. This demigod is really designed to be pretty useless without spirits to help it, it even has no autoattack to speak of, unless a bound spirit is cast. Name: The Spiritmaster Type: General-Dark Appearance: An unseen frail figure

Sorry for the noob post, one thing I'm wondering is how Item's with an increase in stat by percentage work? For instance, Torch Bearer has 3.63 base mana regen right? the Plenor Battlecrown gives 70% Mana Regen so combined that's 3.63 * 1.7 = 6.171 mana regen is that correct? How about if another absolute mana regen is introduced, say, All Fathers ring that has 25 mana regen does that c

As moddable as SC2 will be, I think all 3 current MOBAs can co-exist and establish a player base before anything substantial comes out of SC2, and they each tackle slightly different variations. Demigod provides much more choice for any given character. HoN is basically DotA2 and will rake in the hardcore crowd. LoL is going to be free and it is very accessible I think. Demigod is the only one so

I'm guessing that when a player drops, they are replaced by a Normal AI as well? I'm hoping that when modding gets going, somebody can give us a decent modded AI. I know cranking up the cheat ratio would be the easy way out, but personally unfortunately they still cap out at level 20 and still aren't that hard. They seem to get all the good items and level cap early, but give up on upgrading their citadel or creeps, which ends up making it just a matter of time until th

What difficulty is the AI set at? Nightmare I'm guessing? Or is it based on rankings?

Personally I don't think I have a huge desire unless they are casted. Is there any external program that can link recorded casts to in game replays? If there is any high profile tournaments or top ranked games I will be quite interested to check them out I guess, but not really for my own gameplay, I know I such, I don't need any reruns :)

Well I'm sure the game has a pretty simple method for distinguishing between demigod/minion/creep (I don't know of course, but it would be ridiculous if this wasn't the case). Creeps would really need to be immune to the degen, so as to maintain the benefit of a team managing to capture/hold a flag during the enabled zone stage. Also, for some reason, I would like to propose such degen regions are now referred to as the "gloom" which I'm plagiarising from the Night Watc

I think the more I think about it, I prefer the health degen area idea, rather than simply making terrain inaccessible. This simply removes alot of question marks and coding limitations about certain situations and removes the chance for more bugs and exploits to creep in. One thing that this might be a pain in the ass with though could be getting the AI to deal with these areas.

My idea would be to have certain dead zones on larger maps rotate so that parts of the map become accessible or inaccessible on a timer. For instance if we take Zikurat: Each of the coloured zones could be enabled/disabled on a rotation, say Blue+Red Disabled, then after 1 minute Blue+Red enable, and Green+Orange disable. Such a configuration could be p

Yes this is why I see 3rd party maps as so much more important. Not only is the budget for new maps apparently very high according to Stardock (I think Brad wrote somewhere), but also they really present a way for 3rd party maps to really make a name for themselves. With something like Supreme Commander ofcourse, hashing out a playable map is simple, and for a dev mapper, they can chuck a ton of maps out in relatively short time, and 3rd party maps are really diluted.</

Am I right in thinking that Demigod maps involve a lot of 3DSMAX or something along those lines? I'm just wondering if anybody has already created a map model that's just waiting to be "Demigodised"?

7 Replies 6,193 Views

hopefully when we get a map editor all these problems will be solved. Due to the rarity of maps (made even worse due to the strictness of the recommended player numbers, by both the community and the fact that the maps just aren't so fun with too many or too liuttle), I can see community maps really becoming popularised.

LoL definite appears geared to getting new players into the game, whereas HoN seems to just assume everyone is a genius. This could change before release I guess, but HoN's interface already seems so polished and complete, you wonder how much it might change. Somebody mentioned LoL only has 1 map, well in the game there is a Realm Map which clearly has support for 15-20 or so Maps, however the only 2 selectable regions are the same map but with different weather.
