Thanks everybody! @Cameochi: Thank you, clever idea! (and again: just why didn't I think about this myself, I wonder... [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e] I'm saving all my Stardock receipts in a special folder in Thunderbird and I'm backing up Thunderbird regularly, so everything is there... the only explanation I have is that I'm elsewhere with my mind at the moment, the FIFA World Cup for example and the second semi-finale match tonight [e digicons];)[/e] ) By the way, you will get the upda

Thanks to both of you! I've tried the conversion utility myself and I used to port a few XP-msstyles with SkinStudio 6, but SkinStudio 7 doesn't seem to offer an option to do that. Maybe it's too complicated with Vista or Win 7 msstyles. Well, as long as there isn't an easy way to import visual styles, I think I have to do without, since I'm no expert at skinning at all. @DrJBHL Yes, thanks, it's a good idea to contact the master (and so obvious that I don't know why I didn't

Hello there, I have two general questions: 1) I have purchased several Master Skins - but they are all for XP/Vista and I'm running Win7 64-bit now. Is it possible to simply update these skins (if available) or would I have to purchase the Win7-Version? 2) I've been using Visual Styles for a while when I couldn't get WindowBlinds to work on my system (it's running now [e digicons]:)[/e] !) Some of these styles are good work - I'd like to port a few of them to WindowB

Hi, there's an option in the WindowBlinds settings which allows you to exclude apps from being skinned. I recently had a bad issue with WB and one thing Stardock Support suggested I should do is exclude one program from being skinned (it gave me an error message before). These are the instructions I got from support: "Please open the configuration for WindowBlinds, click on the "Settings" button at the top. Click the "Per Aplication tab" and then click "Add...". Browse to the

@Wizard1956 Yes, thank you, I somehow didn't think about checking the ProgramData Folder. It still doesn't work with LogonStudio Files, but since I can make my own... and any wallpaper I'm putting into the C:\ProgramData\Stardock\LogonStudio Vista folder will be in the built-in logon screens list as well, I think, so I can live with that. Thanks for everyone's help and suggestions!

@Shirley, I took ownership of the original Windows-background file and renamed it. Now I can apply screens from the "Built-in logon screens" list in Logon Studio as well as my own screens. But I still can't apply screens located in the DefaultLogons folder (the one in the Logon Studio program folder). Where are the built-in logonon screens located? Maybe it workes to safe all downloaded logon screens to that location? Thanks!

Hello, it simply doesn't apply. What happens is that the default logon screen is "highlighted" when I choose a skin (from the "built-in logon screens" list) and click apply. But the logon screen won't change. If I create a screen of my own which then appears in the "my logon screens" list I can apply it from there. All the downloaded screens which are saved to the C\Programs (x86)\Stardock\Object Desktop\Logon Studio\Default Logons directory won't appear in the skin list of Logon Stud

Hello, I too have problems applying LogonStudio files. I can create my own logons using my own backrounds - applying works. But I can't apply downloaded LS-files. Tried to rename the backround.bmp in the system32/oobe folder, but "Trusted Installer" won't let me. Use of the above mentionend stardock-access_bat or verifying the installation via impulse and running an update didn't help either. Any idea what I could do about this? Oh, here's my system: Win7 Pro, 64-bit, 4GB Ram, Intel Q

@ Shirley: I tried to apply a skin again (after un- and reinsatlling WB) and encountered the same problems - but now I noted down the error message (I've translated it as best as I could): "the command in 0x002c000 is pointing to memory/repository 0xffffffff. Operation read couldn't be operated in memory/repository. Klick ok to exit the program." This Message appears while the skin is being applied. At the same time all desktop icons and the windows taskbar

Hallo Cameochi, hello Shirley, thanks for your replies. @Shirley: No, unfortunatly I can't recollect precisely what that file was. It was some Explorer-related file and the window displaying the message was Classic-Windows and not displayed properly as well. But I posted this in the win7 category as well and one user suggested that it might indicate a hard drive problem. Thus I will contact my vendor, and most likely will have to pack my tower, carry it there and we'll try to

Hello Neil, thanks for your reply. Yes, I did install LogonStudio but haven't used it yet. The Problem didn't occur while booting or logging in (though when logging in I already received the error message). Only after Login I experienced the blank screen, which was strange enough. I used to run WB/Object Desktop on my 32-Bit-XP-Notebook before and never experienced any Problems at all (all Stardock Apps worked fine). What also happened after System Recovery is

Hello there, well, I know this is another win7 64-bit post ... but I've encountered severe problems with window blinds on my brand new (got it yesterday) win 7 professional 64-bit system. Install via Impulse worked just fine, but after applying a blind ("Frosted WB", I chose the win7 style) some explorer file couldn't be read anymore and the system froze. After rebooting all I got was a grey screen and a cursor. No access to anything. I managed to restore my system using th

Thanks both of you for your suggestions! I ran CCleaner and reinstalled and that didn't help. But moving the themes folder to the desktop seems to have helped, even though when I tried to open CFX I got the same error message again at first (and CFX created a new - empty of course - themes folder at the same time), but then I tried if I could apply any of the themes by double-clicking on the theme-file. That worked and afterwards I could open CFX "normally" and it now seems to work properly a

Hello there, I can't open Cursor FX anymore, whenever I try to do so I receive this message: "Cusor FX has encountered a problem an needs to close". Hello everbody, I'm using Logon Studio for XP and I can't load new logons anymore/or rather seem to be able to apply them (Logon Studio Document - so the file itself seems to ok) but they won't appear in the list of available logons. I recently had a similar problem with BootSkin, which I could solve (delete the vdstub driver file and reinstall) - is there a similar solution or what could be the reason? I un- and reinstalled Logon Studio, but it still doesn't work. Thank you for sugge

Hello, I hope I'm in the right category. I can't apply bootskins anymore. When I'm trying to open the bootskin.file I receive an error message, saying "There was an error importing this skin file. Possible causes are a corrupt skin file, or a read-only skin directory" I've tried to download and apply several BootSkins, e.g. LED.Matrix, Escape and Odessey. I've never experienced this problem before. Any ideas what could be the reason? (OS: XP SP2) Thank you very much!

Hi there, I've tried to update IP to the latest build (3.99.144) through SDCentral several times now, this is what happens: After downloading the files extracting doesn't seem to work; there's just about 1MB left to finish the update, but extracting will be done over and over again, and I'm getting strange information about its progress (e.g. "125% done", then it's "446% done", then "1xxx% done"...). I've never experienced Problems of that kind before. I'm using XP SP2, have broadband access
