Not something that seems easily exploited since it will require the AI player to create the circumstances of the bug each time.

If you scare off all the newbies with a game that is too difficult then you will not be able to grow the player base. Difficulty is all about scaling to challenge the individual player. While reducing the pain of a game feature is not the right long term fix, it is a fix that helps immediately meet a need for the overall community without spoiling too much challenge for the upper echelon of players.
Well I was able to fix the DA inability to add opponents. Apparently using the mods folder I didn't have all the opponents data there so they would not show up in the list. Might be a bug strictly with mods, but I can just modify the static data and get what I want from it. Now where is that backup of that file...
I am able to mod Dark Alliance without issue, but when I try to apply changes to races as simple as renaming the leader it does not work. I've edited every RaceConfig.XML file on my system and the Terran Alliance leader is still shown without change. I would just use DA, but I like to play non campaign mode games and after removing one AI player can't add him back or any new players to the game. I'm stuck with 3 AI opponents and a lot of empty AI boxes I can't do anything to. <br/
