That was the ticket! I first tried it with it turned on for manual. No go. Had to do it with automatic. Still have it tuned off in security in control panel. It works! Thanks alot Lantec. And thanks to everyone. I really appreciate it!

I noticed im not getting email from watch lists now either..i had been.. Same thing here. I also cant upload new pics for my personal web site.I know thats not about email, but my thread about the problem has not had any responses. I thouhght I might have a chance of it being seen here.

AVG is the way to go. I have had it for years with no problems. Free or purchased, you wont be sorry. I have the instructions from Norton on how to get everything off your computer, which Webgizmos was kind enough to send me. I would be happy to send them to you, if you would give me your email address. Just dont use the "@" symbol. Put "at" instead. That way you wont get picked up by spammers. Yrgals advice in #9 is very good.

isnt that part of ms' plan to deal with pirated copies of xp? It probably is. My copy of XP is not pirated. It has been authenticated on their web site. It came with my computer. Since my copy of XP is legite I dont know why some of us have to turn on auto, and some of us dont. It is another mystery!</f

This is for all those out there who update windows manually and have automatic updates turned off. From now on the only way to get windows updates is to have their service TURNED ON when you go to manually scan for updates. Otherwise you will be instructed on how to turn it on. So I turned it on and was scanned for updates. When I was done I turned it off again. What a pain. I do not like having automatic updates turned on because I dont like MS to hav
