Well I understand the prayer angle of it...I've received a lot of powerful impressions that I never fully understood...but in my case since I didn't understand God's will I just went on with what I was doing anyway. (Bad choices--ALL of them!) So it's good that you recognized a prompting for what it was without questioning it. While many people in the world are confused and wondering "who the right one is," you have guidance all along the way.

Expensive? Depends on where you are and your situation, Angela. I guess my situation is that even when I had a cell phone I never used it. There are a thousand little gadgets I could buy, and for each one I DON'T buy, I've got that much more money in my pocket. Can't live without the internet though <img src="http://images.stardock.com/JU/smile

I didn't know anything about this...I was still waiting for Amanda to come back from the vacation that her parents let her go on if she stayed on her "best behavior." So I wonder which one of her articles was printed and sent to her family? I can't think of anything I've read that would give her parents any worries. But even still, she's in college, you think her parents would give her some breathing space by now. She's got a good head on her shoulders, they ought to see that and trust

Aren't cell phones overrated though? I haven't had a cell phone for..let's see...5 years now, and I haven't missed a thing. In extreme emergencies you can always borrow someone else's phone (everyone's got one--it's a huge, expensive fad). I did that once...in a traffic jam, I asked the person in the car behind me if I could use his phone real quick. No problem. It was free and I made a friend! Most often I witness people on cell phones just

That's funny. Today at LUNCHTIME my son was fascinated with his stuff for the millionth time. "It's like a bag," he said over and over again until I gave him some acknowledgement. (Yes, he was eating lunch in the buff...it's a potty training strategy we use around the house. Not sure if it's working though because it's not teaching him the real-world task of pulling his pants down in time of urgency. 'Nother story.) Yeah, if I were a boy I kno

Someone here mentioned several weeks ago that his doctor put him on an ultra-strict diet which basically took out all the tasty foods. He's restricted to fish and chicken rather than the red meats he'd always been fond of, and NO BUTTER or MARGARINE, etc. Remember him? His name isn't coming to me right now but... While he was opining and fellow JUsers wishe

A simple question dharma asked me a few days ago had me stumped. I have no idea exactly which hospital my husband was born in. So I decided to go straight to the source: his birth certificate. Long story short, every time my husband uses any of our crucial documents, they get lost. Before I met him, I always knew exactly where my important documents were a

Gideon: In my "perfect" world, ANY assistance program would be pretty intensive, and privately based. Families would be matched with a volunteer who would assist them on shopping decisions, and pretty strictly limit what purchases are made with the funds that the charity was providing. The focus of the programs would be to teach

Very sad. Sometimes it's hard for people not to torture themselves with "shoulda, coulda, woulda" thoughts. I hope his sister's doing all right. That's a gorgeous piece of art you created. What else am I going to do with it? Are you going to give it to your friend? I think she might appreciate i

I'm sorry if I hit a nerve and had the best intentions. No worries. Sorry if my response seemed a bit snappy. I try not to place too much emphasis on that aspect of my life because self-pity is counterproductive. But it means a lot to me when someone expresses genuine concern. Thanks. <TABLE cellpadding=

I think it's symbolic of all the things I wanted but couldn't have. That's insightful. I often dream of my teenage years. Although those years couldn't have sucked more in real life, in my dreams the teenage years are truly halcyon, healthy, vibrant, and romance actually happens in a healthy, beautiful

And I can exhale now that it's naptime. Yay. So I vented this morning. I wasn't really fishing for advice, but I do appreciate your thoughtful comments. When I went back to him I had taken some deep breaths, did a little thinking, and was able to patiently and creatively turn the situation into a happy one for us both. We had a lovely morning at the park after breakfast, and yes, he was fully clothed. Parenting a toddler isn't m

Normally when I get up in the morning it's because my son nags me to get up. He doesn't understand that when he sees sunshine in the morning, all I see is gray. Every day. For fifteen years. But that's nothing new, and I don't usually dwell on it apart from the gloom that dictates every thought and feeling I have. And it's not my son's problem, it's mine.<BR

Thanks for the thoughtful comment lw. I may have misrepresented myself though. See, gyms, fresh air, workout equipment and sport bras are as familiar to me as laying flat on my back for weeks at a time, which is what I've been doing lately (slight hyperbole). Just gotta stop that extra fat in its tracks before it becomes noticable. For my sake & the baby's.

The queen of Too-Much-Information brings you this repugnant update: Pregnancy means eating for two, right? OK, I shouldn't be eating for two ADULTS. It's just a wee little person in there who doesn't need TOO much food. But I just don't know where my fetus ends and where my fat begins, so I just feel so fat. So I'm getting off my butt to do some ex

They say it takes a village to raise a child -- maybe what those kids needed that day was a scary truck driver to set them straight. At a truck stop those kids had likely been cooped up travelling in a car all day and had to get their wiggles out at lunch time. I feel for them...and I feel for you. Unfortunately sometimes our paths cross with people who bug us. I hope your foot feels better soon <img src="http://images.stardock.com/JU/smiles/Tongue.gi

Are you going to get a 3-d one? I'll need to get in with the "in" crowd around here because they're not available unless 1) we drive hours away and spend hundreds of dollars; or 2) get in good with the doctors here who have the machines. I've asked about it and the closest I've gotten is with

I'm glad you enjoyed that "foot in womb" picture too. My friend Jenn emailed it to me ages ago. She sends the most amazing emails. I was always moving his big foot around from the outside so I could get comfy. So you were really in tune with what was going on in your womb, wow. Hmmm, if you we
