What about the copyright implications? Oh my god won't someone think of the poor starving billionaires at the RIAA?

I feel very sad about 911 and its victims. I also feel very sad about the 52,000+ victims of the 'war on terror' America has unleashed on the world.
Thank you JcRabbit. Ive given it a whirl and it is very nice- seems extremely powerful and customizable- almost daunting! It does seem a bit slow to react though sometimes- whereas objectdesktop is ultra-fast. I think thats theme specific though as it doesnt seem to affect all of them. I'd say nextstart is the weakest area- workshelf is what Objectdock should be. It is so much better than OD and the widget integration is very well designed.<
So I can use this alongside objectdesktop? Or do I have to quit certain programs like windowblinds etc?
If you are secure in the value of you own product you dont have to worry about talking about what the competition is doing. Looks interesting though.
And my little question is: The FrostBite by Marc A. Foumberg uses the frames of my EulB wb skin, right? Pretty blatant theft that is. How pathetic.
Brilliant, informative review and also highly relevant to stardock customers. thanks!
Nice one. Dunno what the big deal is with Vista. I've had the same GUI for ages already thanks to WB...
I have the full version purchased and paid for but the new beta is not showing up in SDC. I'm still on 1.29[b] 003...
Errrr.... how about doing some work on the DesktopX package for once? I keep seeing all these new programmes coming out and masses of Stardock resources spent on new products but I have bought and paid for the desktopX package, many of which's components are in serious need of an overhaul at the very least. Sorry but getting a bit fed up of this. Its always 'oh yes we are working on it but we have been putting all our resources into somethin
And the bundled DRM makes them utterly worthless!
Dont see any difference but I have to admit this is my most used app- it never crashes and is invaluable.
This is why I will always have a dual-bootable PC... Linux is getting better all the time- soon we wont need windows.
I've noticed that the game Elder Scrolls Oblivion seems to get quite a few graphical glitches when it is played when using the following stardock programs: ObjectDock plus Widgets I think it may also conflict with DesktopEarth, which runs via active desktiop. Typical problem is parts of the screen flashing occasionally to show part of the underlying window desktop. This also seems to cause game slowdown. I've also
OK after a fair bit of testing I've had it crash on me quite a few times. Virtual desktop manager also conflicts with Desktopearth- probably an active desktop issue though and this is a VD problem not OB. It crashed quite a few times when I was trying to create my own bar- once after half an hour of unsaved work which really ticked me off... I also noticed that particularly with old skins it is very slow to react. There's about a half-second delay
Much better than the old version, but still a bit buggy... Nice work though people!
Nice to hear this. Frankly I was getting a bit peeved with the whole affair- many of the ObjectDesktop programs are in serious need of updating, and are looking well past their prime (obviously not WB though). Lets hope the next few months will see some progress.
Nice little video here too: http://youtube.com/watch?v=qV3xyJCiKl0 This is what stardock should be aiming for with the next release of windowsFX if you ask me. If linux can do this surely we can get something similar going... *and yes I am downloading the Kororaa live CD to give it a try*
I was watching some of debacle- especially on digg etc. It looks like you may have made quite a few new fans and sales from it all- I hope so for you guys! I have mixed feelings about the whole piracy issue. I tend to 'preview' some games and things sometimes- I have bought hundreds of DVDs, CDs, and games over the past few years as a result of playtesting them, and quite honestly that is how I ended up buying the ObjectDesktop package myself. I
I stopped buying CDs because so many CDs now try to install software on my PC. I dont buy music online because its all DRM-crippled. Why should I pay for a restricted use product? I dont buy music any more because the RIAA have made it so unattractive to me the consumer.
Brilliant idea... but I'm kind of worried we're going to get some really bad ones. I just pray to god noone does a Mariah Carey one. Oh yes and also- what about copyright? I'm sure the RIAA will be all over your arses if anyone posts anything remotely similar to anything ever written in the history of mankind...
Lifehacker posted a review/article about the stardock products. Someone is commenting about some malware called winfixer that stardock allegedly installs? Can anyone clear this up?
So as we have Windowblinds we dont really need Vista anyway now!
ObjectDesktop is the only software I have ever bought over the net- and I just renewed for another year AND bought ObjectDock. On of the best things about stardock is that they update the programs constantly and listen to people who have problems... and dont charge a fortune for what is a truly brilliant set of software packages. They earn 50 bucks a year off me and I have no problem with paying that! As Nelson would say.... HA HA!!!!
