I get this too!!! The only solution i found was to right click the firefox tab in the taskbar and choose maximise. That sorts it out. And yes indeed its only on skins with per pixal alpha support. I've also noticed that occasionally some windows (only small ones like property windows) go blank -except for the border/frame remains. Again only on per pixel skins. I wonder if this is related to the cursorxp problems?

Same problem on OD+ which I just purchased (not too happy about this to be honest). It looks very similar to the conflict between cursorXP and WB5- in that the top of the titlebar obscures OD+ and in effect disables always on top. I also find that sometimes my window frames disappear completely- the only way to get them to come back is to right click and maximise in the taskbar. I bought OD+ yesterday and have not installed anything else si
4. Ive been seaching for a skin that is abit naughty, well not naughty. But a skin with some Girl Attitude. A skin that uses girl body parts. Or just girls. That way alot of Male uses can feel good while using their PC. haha. Good idea. I'll make one with male parts for the female users....
I'm going to give it a go. I was just planning on taking one of the existing vista-esque skins and altering it piece by piece. What I will do first though is draw a template in photoshop so I know what its going to look like.
Well here's my current desktop: Work in progress and to be honest I'm not happy with it at all yet. I need a more comprehensive icon pack- but something similar- very minimal and sleek. I might try and make my own WB (not easy). I love the Nonstep one but I want something between that and the seffy skin. That one is very sleek but a bit too pastel.Arrow is just
I want to build a good ultra-minimal desktop environment. At the moment its all nonstep-themed... but I want something a bit more modern, using WB5 skin goodies like transparency etc. Anyone got any recommendations? Looking for something which is basically black, white and another colour... Using everything- desktopX, WB, Iconpackager. Lets build the best possible ultra-minimal theme.... <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smile.g
You can't beat the seffy xmas WB skin... Amazed that didnt win- or even place? Well done to all the winners.
Am not a developper so most of the above does not concern me. I would just like to see a program which does not crash regularly- where I can load a theme and it does not vanish or get jumbled up whenever I restart my PC. Quite a few times I have spent hours making a wonderful desktop layout which fits all my needs and then I restart my PC and half the info has disappeared and the rest of it is halfway across the screen. I pay $50 or so for this package
Anything new from the beta?
Pretty accurate review imho. I have always found desktopX to be a seriously under-designed product. I mean it's a great concept but it just isnt working right. I'm sure there is so much more that could be done with it. Add to this so many reliability problems... Objects supposedly fixed but migrating around the screen... not particularly consumer friendly... Its just not good or reliable enough for me to use day in day out. I have one widget on my
Yep it worked no problem. Drivers seem worth the upgrade for once too!
Thank you for your replies- I feel more confident about installing the new drivers now
Nvidia have just released new drivers Link which provide for better Quake IV and COD 2 performance. I'd like to upgrade my drivers but last time I did this WB5 crashed my PC to such an extent I had to reinstall windows. OK that was when it was in early beta stages (the initial launch) but I'm still very nervous about installing the new drivers. Any view from stardock? Has anyone
The dll rename didnt seem to work. I tried system restore and it did not help either- I still got the same problem. I have now formatted XP again and had to re-install everything (taking quite some time!). The first thing I tried is WB5 and it works fine- but I'm not going to upgrade my graphics drivers for some time! I would suggest the support team try to replicate this though- just take a PC with old NVidia drivers, install wb5
Its called double dipping.
OK I am in serious trouble here. WB5 was working excellently but I hadnt installed new graphics cards in about 3 months. I just installed the new nvidia drivers for my 6800 GT. Post reboot- major problems: I get 2 svc host errors after logon. If I say OK to the first- the PC just freezes up completely. If I say cancel, then it runs OK-ish but had to uninstall WB5 and it has also screwed up my soundcard and network drivers. This does not seem to be
Just wanted to say a big thank you to the stardock team for WB5! After the initial beta and its RunDll problems I was somewhat underawed, but then today's update fixed all the problems! I love companies who listen to their customers and react promptly to their comments! Anyway the reason I felt compelled to write is the HUGE speed increase this seems to have given my PC. Windows seems twice as fast- seriously! Frankly I was getting all excit
Unfortunately I'm in the UK so not an option. No worries- hopefully you'll iron it out soon. It's a beta- I'm not complaining (much )...
Installing SP2 not an option- it buggers up my PC every time and frankly I dont have the time to spend another 24 hours downloading SP2 again on my dialup connection. In any case, as above, SP2 users still have the problem!
Install SP2? Not an option here chummie... Tried it twice and it completely screwed my machine up both times. Add to that the fact I'm on dial up... Not bloody likely!
Hello peeps Windowblinds 5 does look quite scrumptious- I love the transparency effects... but I keep getting run as dll crashes every time I try to run a game (eg warhammer dawn of war, counter-strike etc). Playing DVDs and music and surfing the web seems fine though. I've also experienced quite a few seemingly random explorer crashes and I get some strange error messages to do with logonui during the start up process ( I think this is rela
