I had the same question. I am a long time Metaverse player, but decided to try out the dreadlord campaign for something new. Damn they are tough. The small ship idea might work against the home world in "achillies heel" but they have fighters with 46 shield factor. I am attempting to lure the fighters away, but I can not figure out their speed. It says 1 parsec per turn but they move way faster than that. The idea is to get them to chase a fast moving non-combat ship away from my planets,

Simple question: How do you break off a tech or econ treaty on ce you have established one?
I just pre-ordered DA yesterday, but when I try downloading the Beta it says that my Account information is wrong. Is it just too late in the game to see the Beta before the final release or am I doing something wrong?
It is an interesting point. I have not made an ally in my current game either. Bug? The military rating is key with many races. No one wants a weak ally. I am not 100% sure, but I think each race has it's own personal criteria for an ally. There is the obvious alignment, but some like strong offence, some defence. In my current game the Torians instantly became friendly when I met them... I could not explain why though.
I don't mind defending, but realisticly speaking, a military capable space station should be able to put up some sort of fight. I loved putting the time and energy into upgrading, choosing the best defence against my enemy etc. upgrading and seeing positive results is part of turn based strategy, so I say make the upgrades worth while. I would also love to see a Battle screen with my space station kicking some fleet butt!
I agree we need more events and "minor charactors like space slugs and pirates. I have personally never seen a pirate in the many games I have played. Anomalies throughout the game timeline not just at beginning. Better thought out invasion offence and defence , ie raising armies One single screen to interact with all the info gathered in espianage. I want to see it all together not split into diplomacy, relations and civ manager. More hands on espianage...
I did not know that AI could only win military before. Shoulda read the F manual I guess. What I really was wanting was to win tech in order to take it away from the AI so it was not an option for them, but then go ahead and choose not to win this way. This way you could win a game several different ways all in one game ie Win tech then make alliances and then culturally dominate. I do like the idea of backing up and playing out a diffeerent senario, but I kind of like the idea of winn
First I know I made the mistake... But I am really bummed that I did not turn off Tech victory before playing this amazing Giagantic Masocistic 9 alien game. Things are just getting really exciting and even though I am not winning I kind of want to play it out, but the Torians are about to win by Tech. I suggest a few things for this problem. 1) Get the Tech win, but if you win it have an option to play out the game instead of just ending This could go for all types of victories. 2
I think maybe you guys need to have some points docked and then have a stiff glass of port
Yeah it's a Mozilla thing. Same thing with charactor generation. It's a shame cause I hate IE Thanks guys
Thanks for the help... now let's see
Hey need help from a ...um... more experienced computer user. I posted something on the Game talk Earlier today and got some responses that I want to join in on, but everytime I click a post, back out and then try to go back to that same post it gives me a white screen and says done in the bottom left corner. With this problem I will only be able to see someones response once so only write if you might know whats up Suck at computers but love invading a juicy class 19 plane
I seem to have difficulty getting " into the green" at the beginning 1/3 of my game. Other races have more planets. more techs and more money! This isn't a complaint but I was wondering if anyone had pointers. Currently I cut my spending and taxes in order to get population bonus at 100% approval, and slow my planet race down some, but I get too nervous that neighbors are going to swallow me whole... so I get into a economic hole instead. I don't buy ships and only seldomly buy factories. S
Thanks for all the input. I will move up to a more difficult level and make sure I have all my updates.
Long time player but just started posting to metaverse. I have played four games now. 1 challenging 2 tough and 1 painful I am now ranked 699 but when I looked at 697 who has also played 4 games all his games were beginner. I was kind of insulted! Is this fair? What am I missing here?
No Tactical- damn right
Need some help please. I am having an issue late in the game. I reach a point where clicking TURN freezes my computer and shuts down GALCIV2 . I got a Radeon 7500, p3 800, windows xp. Is my computer not up to the task do you think?
Yeah I can read it. I like your idea, and I think it would be a great addition... if it could be turned on or off in the setup
I love the fact taht the colored icons drop to signify an newly built ship, or social project, but I miss being able to click next and have it go on to the next new thing. Currently I am hitting DONE and then clicking the next icon. It wold be nice to be able to scroll through new ships or planets without having to back out. Maybe this is possible but I have not found out how.
