OK, kids pony up to the bar and get some free registration goodness. I know we all love Firefox, but Opera was one of the first alternatives to come around the bend and show us the evils of IE. Free is good. so feel free to give Opera some lov'in, and pass the word along.
I really like Kubuntu with KDE, gives me all the features I am used to with Windowblinds. Rollup, themeing, Docking bar, Virtual Desktops, Open Office. I didn't mind Konquorer as a browser, and sudo apt-get install firefox was about as simple as it gets as install goes. The only trouble was mounting some additional hard drives. That was solved in two shakes though. Mounting them was actually pretty simple. apt-get is a really neat command.Kynaptic is a

I use ubuntu, actually the kubuntu version with KDE. I use the Live Version and it really rocks. It "Just Works!" Seriously... I have an HP Laptop and it boots right up, and I have no problems with it at all.
Normally I am one of the early adopters of the Latest and greatest Beta from Redmond, this time however I have taken a pass. I did install the first alpha of LongHorn and wasn't impressed. Most of the obvious stuff was and seems to be able to be duplicated, by DesktopX and other Programs. The Thing to do is go with the combo cases, and roll your own. With the Firewire option you can avoid issues when burning stuff through a USB Burner from a USB Drive, or when tranferring info from one drive to another. Not having to Cross the usb buss twice. Coming and Going. But Cross through USB to 1394 (firewire is trademarked by apple). So pulling things off 1394 to USB is quicker as well, pull from a 1394 enabled camera or DV device and go into US
The Linux Desktop environment is growing, and as more momentum gets behind it we'll be seeing alot more assimilation into the user market share. The "Geek Factor" is starting to slip on it. I am like phil666, I run many vmware and VirtualPC Images of Windows in its' many incarnations. I run WinXP SP1 on my laptop, W2K3 SP1 on my Server, and XP SP1 on a Drone Box, and I use the Live Version of Kubuntu Linux 5x (with KDE) for my Roaming and Tinkering, I have VMW and VPC Images of RedHat, SUSe and Mandrake Solaris 10 also. I do Desktop Support and try to stay current or be able to float an Image to immerse myself in my Users / Customers

I will tell you this much... Do not buy anything from HP. Unfortunately I bought an HP Laptop. Not a bad machine to begin with, but less than a month out of the box and I started having pixel problems on the diplay panel, they grew worse until I had a bad section accross the entire bottom of the screen. Then the Power Jack came loose from the motherboard. I think the machine has left my desk a total of 6 or seven times, traveled in a hard shelled foam
I can address the Printer issue, or at least think I can. The Epson used to have a routine where the printer heads tested themselves, determined ink tank content volume and also runs a diagnotics on itself. This one annoying set of (ahem) features. The really sad part is it will do it every time you start the printer. What they also do is discharge a miniscule amout of ink (where it goes I havn't a clue) to clear the ink jets (and waste ink faster). Th

I am wondering if it is a "definitions" update? I also wonder if it might be build number specific, or something. I admit it might be a farked fake. I am going to be curious if there will be similar stories to come in the future, additionally. Also of Note I am not, against MS. I use Windows, Support Windows and owe my Livelyhood to Windows Platform. I just hate thier tactics.

Like I said before I think it has to do with, if you skin the toolbar area, like is is a graphic? or just a colored area? Doesn't that seem like a effectable difference?
I think it was mentioned previously, and has something to do with the button bar at the top of the browser, and how a skin effects tat area.
