There is no comfort for you when you watch your beloved Sami struggle. She loves you and will always be with you. You will have her for the rest of your life. I loved a dog too and raised Taka from a tiny baby and lost him at age 12. I still think of him every day and keep his photos about me. Sami is a gift and you are good friends. My heart goes out to you.
