this has to do with the timing of the auto-movement. in star dock games, units moving automatically, because you gave them a path that takes more than one turn, will move AFTER you click end turn. the reason is, that the developers think that you should have an opportunity to change the movement in THIS turn, and not in the turn before. this may sound logical but if you play civ often, where it is a movement IN the turn

Look at Empire Total War. If it wasn't for modders that game would have sucked the big one. The fact that the comminuty had to finish the game and AI is laughable and that is without mod tools. Then they lied about multiplayer campaign and used Empire as a beta platform to develop some half ass multiplayer that is now present in Napoleon albeit still broken because CA doesn't listen to its customers. In some ways modding is awsome as long as its done well and with balance. Most modder

I'm just wondering if this game will also be available on other etailers like STEAM? I've had a Stardock account since Galciv but ever since the move to Impulse I haven't installed, patched, or done anything in general with Stardock. Also will there be 3rd party DRM on any of the digital formats including Impulse? It also says Multiplayer in the NFO for the game but being a Stardock game will it actually work ONLINE in multiplayer? Does multiplayer work in the beta or is it just being pa
Managed to have my ISP monitor my signal/ping my modem while I was connected in a 6 player game (I apologize to those players). She said my packets were fine, getting an average round trip of 45ms.... and the kicker? My ping in game was 2,000 milliseconds, and I was causing everyone to lag out. Maybe this is a problem beyond just my ISP/modem. But I just reformatted. The system is squeaky clean. A bios problem, maybe. An OS problem, perhaps. This is driving me absolutely insane.
<br

C Y G N U S Just posted my first map for Sins. It is a medium 3 v 3 tournament map designed for teamplay. Aside from a few exceptions resources and hazards are random forcing players to adapt and work togeather. Pirates remain a constant threat to the system but offer wealth and several key tactical positions. This map also works well in COOP mode enjoy. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=92&libid

Oops forgot a few things... Performance - Remove individual ship destination lines when using fleet selection (In larger fleets this cripples performance just by selecting units and or telling them where to move or what to attack) Especially when using qued movement points and or with allies. Reduce this to one line for each fleet. Fleet formation and position circles should still be fine but reducing the lines in a fleet can certainly speed things up on the performance side of thin

Few things I can think of off the top of my head after playing for roughly a week... Camera - Camera tweaks on extreme Z limits (perhaps lower min and max z to avoid) Gameplay - Option to disable Superweapons - Ability to build structures on the Z axis - Add enhanced Frogboy AI :)(Do not make the AI surrender as easy as it retreats) Graphics * - More skyboxes from those great artists at Ironclad and Stardock! * - Different UI style for each Rac
I am sure getting tired of every freaking new game and many of the old ones crashing on vista if its not one thing its another. Microsoft and Nvidia really need to get these issues fixed! I am not getting any TDR errors or anything say the drivers have stopped responding. With omega drivers my system hard locks after a sound loop. with 163.75 beta drivers it sound loops then my screen says no video signal and I can hear music playing and i have to reboot.... A

I think there is a fleet ungroup bug relating to ungrouping of units in a fleet while using shift to que up attacks or movement while some ships in the fleet are in the middle of a jump and still on route to destination. I haven't quite put my finger on it but I think this is what is causing it. I'll catch it eventually. Is there a quick way to ungroup fleets with keyboard mouse combo I may be clicking by accident while shift clicking around?
Sometimes the game will stop drawing certain kinds of particle graphics, such as the bullet-like gunfire from some ships, or the explosions when things are destroyed. I'll be able to zoom in on, say, a group of vasari light frigates, and I can hear them firing and watch their target's HP go down, but I won't see any bullets coming out of the frigates.
I had this happen to me last night in a relatively short game. I chalk it up to a memory leak. Seemed a bit early to be h

It's a love hate relationship for me. Sometimes you need your ships somewhere else so it is just easier to buy them off. However sometimes you are up against some pretty wealthy AI and they will spend thousands to make sure you have to deal with that fleet at just the wrong moment. The Pirate base is still worth taking for extra income but early on that is just not possible. So far it seems balanced quite well. I love the bullet hole in the console glass once they are removed :CONGRAT:

The bloom effect is pretty minimal in Sins but off by default. I'm not really a big fan of bloom in many games. Uses too much overhead for what is usually a waste of resources. Even a suttle bloom effect is usually too costly but it's all the rage lately. No pun intended...

Finally picked up GalCiv2 GOLD retail after all this time. Found a copy in London Drugs for 39.99 and figured now or never. Game installed fine and everything is working well. It was a little confusing patching my software having never used Stardock before but after a bit of fumbling around it was easy enough. Having used STEAM before I was not very anxious to install the Stardock Central application. However I am very pleased with Stardock Central and happy that it does not force anyt

I am sorry to say this but your multiplayer polls are a load of bullshit. First of all the poll does not even remotely represent an accurate numbers of players who would purchase the expansion if it had multiplayer. You have already alienated the multiplayer gamers like myself who have no more time to waste coming to the site to see if you hired enough talent to actually pull it off. From what I remember it was officially stated that if the game sold well you would put out an expansion pack with

A new version v0.2 has been released that allows the player to use the name Constructor. Only Colony Ship and Survey Ship remain restricted as they are present on a map when it is created. It has been noted that this small mod does not work in campaign mode because of ships already populating the map. Archive has been updated on Apolyton and is pending approval on The Galactic Core. See links above.

Hrmm yeah I do not play campaign mode, that would be why I did not notice that. It does work in free play though. Honestly I think core ship designs need a hidden prefix or more abstract names. Players should be able to name their ship classes the same way. Frigate, Destroyer, Cruiser, Battlecruiser, Battleship, Dreadnought, Titan etc etc. It still may be possible to fix the campaign names. It's taking those campaign designs from somewhere else (228 designs in the data folder) or ther

Do you always find yourself trying to use core design names for your ship classes? If you do then this small mod will help ease the pain by adding a Stardock (SD) prefix to most of the core ship names. Colony Ship, Constructor, and Survey ships remain restricted core design names as they are already present at the start of a new game. Previous save games are not compatible. This small mod will be available on http://www.thegalacticcore.

It's been a few months since I visited the site and here we are again. I for one will not buy this game because no single player game has the replay value of a solid working multiplayer title PERIOD. I don't care what genre were talking about if done right multiplayer is far more interesting. Your survey data is flawed because what people really want is all of the above AND multiplayer. Fine you don't have the time money or resources to make multiplayer a priority but don't go saying stupid thi
