ok 1st report for me started game with the beta set everything up went fine found a galaxy with control-n I liked saved the map kept playing played a few turns made my normal "temp saves save file" exited out rebooted ran gal civ beta again tried to load the temp save game CTD I have a ATI Vid card so its not a Nvidia type problem ~SDC~
update just tried to archive all of the drengin.net games all of em do cept for AP :( again it makes 2 files the Galactic civilizations file with a byte count of zero and a zia02360 with a byte count of 38,649 kbytes this is with sdc version 1.21.241 build 37 ~SDC~
yes I have noticed this myself AP when you use the archive function makes 2 files 1 says galactic civilizations with no extension the other starts with Z and has a few mumbers and thats it it seems the latest sdc does not archive stuff ~SDC~
well.....to quote someone who owns the joint line here "Cari wrote most of the code in Gal civ" that should make her have the "perk" to be able to play favorites :) ~SDC~

Hi all I pre ordered the x pack already and have decided to cancel it to get a drengin.net subscription (for obviuos reasons :) ) to get my hands on the beta :) how much trouble would it be and what do I have to do to get it done? thx in advance ~SDC~

sounds like the gal civ cd is dirty or the drive is try washing the cd off in cold water and drying it (gently) with a SOFT towel and getting a cd lens cleaner for the player most times when theres a read error the disk is the cause its rarely (cept in real dusty conditions or an old drive) is it the cdrom drive ~SDC~
which radeon do you have? the older ones don't like the newer drivers try using catalyst 3.0 should work fine for your card you can d/l older versions of the drivers off ati's website www.ati.com ~SDC~
update I have real 1 fro real networks installed also with no troubles try getting the latest drivers for your dell ~SDC~
I have gal civ on xp pro and have no problems at all are you downloading it via stardock central or installing it from cd? do you have direct x 9.0b for xp? ~SDC~

I have seen to have found a problem with the newest version of sdc 1.10d.204 build 25 it seems when you click on the "free stuff" and try to get any of it, it gives you a error like its wanting a serial number or something ~SDC~
ugh.... I build puters for a living and I can't help but to post a reply about the ctd whenever I see windows ME as the os :) 90% of all troubles I've seen with most anything are because of that version of windows. you would be alot better off it you could either "downgrade" to 98 second edition or upgrade to Windows XP I have played several games with terror stars (I love to culture bomb the ai's to submitting) and occasionally I get "miffed" and blow a real nasty planet up especially
I'd buy the expansion pack in a second and I'd buy it direct :) ~SDC~
