I don't think ANY AV benefits from X64, so I wouldn't base a decision on what to run on that. Avast is mediocre at best. I always recommend VBA32 or DrWeb.. Nod32 is ok though.

Preorders are bad business, avoid them. 1) They lock you into HIGHER pricing. (Generally full retail). 2) They lock vendors into holding their price high so they aren't pricematching. I just built a new 3.6Ghz machine to add to my gaming center, and I went AGP as usual. The performance gain on PCIE is almost ZERO for gaming, and the added cost does nothing but rip you off. Furthermore, since I rotate machines downward, adding a new standard to the mix is compounded 5 times for the 5 machines I run in my home gaming center. I'll be sticking with AGP for the foreseeable future.

Norton unfortunately is worse than McAfee, not only does it add substantial system drag, but it lacks a competant unpacker engine, and speedy threat responses. I wouldn't run Norton if it were freeware. As for Antispy stuff, a good AV will have reasonably strong Adware detections. I've done virus analysis for about 2 years. I currently work in the field doing virus analysis and security consulting. On average I examine 4000 pieces of malware per month. I wouldn't recomend a product that doesn't work with Firefox, so no trouble there. AVG is garbage. On average only 85% detection, horrible trojan detection, poor heuristics, slow updates and threat responses, and almost no packer support. If you've used AVG for awhile, then you have a 25% chance of already having an infection.
